EDIT:
I should also point out that the anim is interruptible. So, if a big toothy thing tries to jump you while you're patching up your friend, you can cancel and defend yourself.
However, the code checks and only heals if you finish the anim. So, if you don't spend the time to patch them up, they don't get healed.
