Just a few thoughts on what I would like to see made
« on: December 02, 2011, 04:38:28 pm »

Just a few thoughts on a few things I'd like to see developed and submitted to the vault by those with way more talent than me (I tried 3d modelling once but could never get the damn things to export). If anything on this list already exists could someone point me in the right direction please.

Coloured Skeletons - I don't just play nwn. Recently I've been playing other old rpg's and a number of them have different coloured skeletons. So how about red, green, blue, gold, copper, white metal (silver/chrome) and/or iron/steel skeletons that a builder could just drop straight into their module?

DIY submissions, that is things that while they work fine as they stand, have all the information necessary for someone else to modify them. A couple of examples follow.

Paintings where the names and dimensions (in pixels) of the graphics used for the actual picture part is given. I would suggest that for this to work the original creator would create the frame part with either a transparent or a white area where the actual picture is to go and have a seperate picture graphic for the painting.

A totally flat interior tileset. That is one where there are no lumps or bumps on the walls or floor. Again the names and dimensions (in pixels) of the graphics used would be given. I would suggest that a nice initial texture for this would be black and gold marble.

In both cases it would then be a simple (and non-destructive) matter for the person wishing to create something a little bit different, to create a small hak with their own textures in, and place it before the original hak in the list. Doing this would also shrink the size of a custom hak.

I asked for this next over a year ago and nothing came of it. Proper Sewers other than DLA's. Nuff said.

Larger animated fog/mist placeables for placing above water.

Anyway that's my thoughts. Anyone got any other ideas?

+1 on these... if I ever get my own list down under the "incredibly long" mark, I'll have a go.

Not a bad idea... there *is* a paintings hak on the vault with pretty simple instructions...

This is an upgrade to the Chanteur and Mr.X placeable paintings hak. It also allows you to put the portraits up 'on' the wall (its a bit difficult to get it perfect, but with a bit of practice you'll be doing it in now time) and provides frames for the portraits as well as making them higher off the ground. There was a problem with multiple placeables. This HAK has 108 placeable objects [paintings], yes 108. 58 rectangle and 50 oval (each with own picture- resused between them, but a total of 58 unique pictures). Readme file explains how to create your own placeable portraits. Templates are included in the ZIP.

The spaceship tileset used in Sanctum of the Archmage is pretty close...

In both cases it would then be a simple (and non-destructive) matter for the person wishing to create something a little bit different, to create a small hak with their own textures in, and place it before the original hak in the list. Doing this would also shrink the size of a custom hak.

I use this same technique with my seasonal haks (ala' the Seasonal Forest), in that I simply put winter/ fall or spring textures in the appropriate hak (at the top of the list), including creature skins, tile textures, and, when I get around to them, skyboxes).

I asked for this next over a year ago and nothing came of it. Proper Sewers other than DLA's. Nuff said.

+1 here, too :-)

Hmmm, and maybe snow flurries for this months CCC? ;-) +1

I didn't, thank you! :-)

Hmmm, the snowflakes seem a bit overdone for a blizzard, though perfect for a gentle snow-fall. I'll dig into it and see what I can use.
