Possible CEP placeable issue?
« on: January 13, 2011, 05:37:16 am »

I kept having a problem with one particular door not showing it's texture correctly when you rotate the camera. There is a particular angle when rotating the camera, that the texture would just disappear and the door would look like a solid colored rectangle.
I finally figured out that it had to do with having one of the CEP invisible walls(plot and useable flags checked and initial state deactivated so it wouldn't be red) to the left side of it. As soon as I made the wall static the door stopped having issues with its texture.
I then set up a test in a new area. I lined up several cep appearance doors and put the invisible wall on the very left of the line. And the door closest to the wall would have texture problems. I then deleted the closest door to the wall and tried again. Once again the next door in line that was closest to the invisible wall would have its texture go missing when rotating the camera.
I've had to hide a door behind a wall to work around this problem. But you can still see it glow when you hit tab so it's kind of annoying.

So just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. Or perhaps they did and couldn't figure out why a doors texture would go missing.

Interesting problem. Unfortunately the CEP team lacks a member with modeling experience right now. I'll bring this problem to the attention of the rest of the team and see if anyone has a solution.

Thanks 420. Perhaps in the meantime some of the modeling geniuses here could offer some suggestions as to why this would happen? Maybe a point in the right direction?

One suggestion I just thought of: Have you tried rotating the invisible wall? If it's default facing is 0 try it at 90, 180 and 270 and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the suggestion 420. I tested it out at different rotations and it still causes problems with textures of nearby objects if the objects are flagged usable. If the nearby objects are static they don't lose their textures. It does make a difference rotating the invisible wall but since i know nothing about modeling I don't know how to test this better to pinpoint what changes or differences are occurring.
