CODI's Dustman Robe
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:04:57 pm »

Does anyone know if there is a fixed version of Dustman Robe?

I'd like to use this but there is some real nasty clipping. Now I don't know much about CC but I did go and change the values in the parts_robe.2da file to HIDE the body parts. Still no go.

Thanks,

FP!

Just to check a few obvious things... Are you sure you've set the body part hide values to 1 in the 2da and not 0? I've seen issues before where folks have assumed the 1 value referred to visible parts, when in fact it sets them as hidden. If that doesn't fix it, you should make sure you don't have any other versions of the robe 2das overriding it. From the looks of that icon (it showing a torso behind), I'd say it's almost certainly a problem with the 2das and not the robe model itself.

That said, in the chance that there is an issue I know for sure that there's a fully working version of the robe in Project Q. I'm pretty sure we didn't alter it at all besides some very minor fixes though.

Yes, they're all the original entries from the download and just to be sure, I changed all values to 1.

I've done a check and sure enough, the demo module provided with only that HAK being used has no clipping issues.

When I load my own module and use my own hak, the clipping occurs. There is no parts_robe.2da in the override (renamed it just to be safe) and it works in the provided demo module and there is only one hak I've made with only one parts_robe.2da in it.

The only difference between the parts_robe.2da in my own hak is that is has entries added to for the Dustman Robe -

Entires 39 to 44.

Yet clipping occurs.

I've done something and I don't know what it is I've done.

----
TEST RESULTS
----

I extracted robes_part.2da again from 1.69 update and overwrote it with the version I have in my own hak. Saved the hak with the stock 1.69 .robes_part.2da file.

Result - Even though none of the .2da lines have been padded for the Dustman Robe, selection entries 5 & 6 appear as Dustman Robes w/ clipping and not the expected stock 1.69 entries.

I opened up my hak and remove all of the CODI Dustman Robe files -

pf??_robe030.mdl
pf??_robe031.mdl
pm??_robe030.mdl
pm??_robe031.mdl
ipf_robe030.plt
ipf_robe031.plt
ipm_robe030.plt
ipm_robe031.plt
pfh0_robe3?.plt
pmh0_robe3?.plt

Result - Entires 5 & 6 no longer display Dustman Robes and show the default 1.69 entries as show below.

'Image

So, I simply readd the all the files without making ANY change to the parts_robe.2da file and make sure I did not include it to my hak from the Dustman Robes hak and entries 5 & 6 become Dustman Robes w/ clipping - shown below.

'Image

I'm not sure where to begin looking on how to fix this. Obviously there is something in my own hak that is causing this hiccup to occur.

If the parts_robe.2da has no entry or refference for the Dustman Robe, why are they showing up if all I do is add the .plt and .mdl files from the Dustman Robe hak?

EDIT - Even REMOVING parts_robe.2da from my own hak but leaving the .plt and .mdl files for the robe in the hak produces the same result. Entries 5 & 6 are Dustman Robe w/ clipping.

Ah, here's your issue: your 2da line numbers should match up to the robe model numbers. So if you're adding your 2da lines at 39 and 40 you should rename the models to _robe039 and _robe040. Currently you not only have them set to different numbers, but the model numbers appear to overwrite standard robe models.

You should also open up the .mdl files in Notepad (or another text editor of your choice) and do a search and replace for the phrases _robe030 to _robe039 (replacing these numbers with the actual before and after renaming file names).

Oh and try not to be confused by the robe number given in the toolset. It's fairly arbitrary and you only need to make sure the robe numbers in both your 2da and the model files are the same.

Will do. This will take me awhile since it's new to me. Adding placeables and music or sound, no problem! Adding clothing for all pheno types is a pain in the ...

I'll report back. Thanks for putting me in the right direction.

Clothing haks are fun.  Just very time consuming.  As a note if the 2da exists in a hak it will override the override directory.  Be wary of the supermodels with robes as sometimes robes have unique supermodel animations with robes.  Default is p*_robe039.  In many cases they may use a_fa or others for a supermodel.

As a note the number in the toolset is simply determined by the AC value applied in the 2da and means nothing at all except in the case of torso parts which actually determine AC.

Just reporting that after applying the fix, the Dustman Robes are now working flawlessly in my own hak.

@ six - THANKS!

@ Calvin - A learning experience. I hope this is the last time I have to deal with clothing for a long time!

Also bear in mind the problem with the robe shown in the upper picture, even if you managed to fix the 2da, is that the hood is a piece of the robe itself, independent of the PC's head; so, as it won't turn along with the head, it will cause nasty clippings (the head will turn regardless of the hood, going through it, which looks bad and unrealistic).

Wow, you guys have all been very helpful!  I had vowed never to mess with clothing but seeing this:

http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=385

I just had to add it to the mod I'm making and as I'm also using Cep, I had to mess with the 2da's etc etc...
Thank you all, without asking a single question, I was able to do everything just by reading these posts!

I also added the above quoted robes:

http://nwvault.ign.c....Detail&id=7307

and they are working with CEP 2.4.  If anyone is interested I would be glad to share this!
