newbie question: STREF
« on: December 02, 2010, 12:04:02 am »

I am starting my first mod. I am using CEP 2.3, cause the things it has look neat.

I have created creatures using the creature wizard. I keep getting strref errors. One for wandering_knight and another for mercenary_spy 2das. How do I fix this?

I have searched the lists a lot, and it seems y'all are much smarter than I.

All STRREF's come out of the .tlk files. It sounds like you have not attached the cep23 custom talk table to your module.

Find the talk table that came with your cep download and make sure it is in the tlk folder.

on the same screen where you added the haks to your module there will be a box to set the custom talk table for the module.

EDIT:  the hak order given in the pic  is incorrect.   Do not use it.   The correct order can be found in the link below.

Thanks. I think I see the problem.

I had installed 2.2 awhile ago and used the update. I assumed the update would give me a new starter mod. I notice that I have about 1/2 the haks you show above. Time for me to get the right starter mod and verify the tlk file.

Many of the newer additions are not in the 2.3 starter mod and are optional, you will have to add them to the list. Your current set up should be fine as a starting point though. As Lightfoot8 said the order of certain haks is important.
