Heads Up - Gog has gone berserk
« on: June 18, 2013, 10:33:31 pm »

Big 48hr only sale on GOG right now. NwN Diamond 50% off when bought alone, NwN2 complete 50% off when bought alone or both at 80% off when bought as part of a DnD bundle. Also Torchlight is Free. And to be honest I'm a bit miffed. Why do they have to do this now that I own (or have owned) all of them...'<img'>

boosts sales to people who have not bought it because they thought it was too much money.

( that is the basic point of having a sale, it allows you to sell at different prices to different people )

Thanks.  I updated the price on the front page of the community site.

Apparently Torchlight is only free until 19:59 gmt 20th June. I bought it the last time they had a sale and enjoyed it. Not got anywhere near the re-playability of nwn/nwn2 though.

Thanks, Tarot!  I picked up Torchlight yesterday.  A lot of expenses during the summer so I couldn't pick up the D&D pack but that's the best online game deal...pretty much ever.

Aside: I wish there was a good way to casual-ify NWN.  I know that's probably heresy but ever since playing Dungeon Siege and right on through Titan Quest, Torchlight and Torchlight II, I've always wanted something much simpler to drop on kids (at least initially) when introducing them to the game.  IMO, NWN is kind of the ARMA 2 of D&D games.

They have been doing the D&D bundle periodically for at least 2 years (I got the same bundle deal a couple of years ago).  If you can't get the bundle this time around, it will come up again.

As I have or have had all those D&D games on disk I haven't actually bought any of them (with the exception of NwN diamond as an insurance against anything happening to the disks and I still haven't downloaded it). As far as I am aware that is the cheapest they have had that bundle go for.

I bought them. I bought them all (except NWN and BG 1-2 which I already had). I couldn't help myself. I already have most of them on disc but a backup never killed anyone and at 2 bucks a pop you'll never see a better deal.

That makes this my third backup CD key for NWN2.

I ain't going nowhere for a while.

Okay, I was considering this deal and tried to get that D&D pack with all ten (or whatever the number is) games, but there is a glitch.

I want to make sure I get another copy of NWN along with the other D&D games. I want that so that I can install it on a new PC (with its own unique CD keys for that install). That way, I can legitimately play with a friend online from my two PCs. No problem, right? NWN is part of the Definitive D&D Pack (http://www.gog.com/promo/definitive_dungeons_and_dragons' class='bbc_url' title='Lien externe' rel='nofollow external'>http://www.gog.com/w...ons_and_dragons but the link only seems to exist when that sale is on), so just buy that pack and I will have an extra NWN and I can request extra CD keys for that install. Well, the problem is that I have already purchased NWN through GoG.So, when I try to buy the D&D Pack, NWN gets removed from the set and I am left just with the other games.

Is there a way around this? I was thinking the obvious approach would be to buy the D&D Pack under a different GoG account with a different email address. But, I would like to avoid having several games under several accounts, possibly leading to trouble if I want to re-download to reinstall at some future point.

(BTW, I know that GoG allows installation of the game on more than one PC. But, I don't know that they will give a separate CD key without the sale of another copy. And, anyway, that seems like cheating, since the whole idea is that the game will be running on more than one PC at the same time.)

Kind of sad, really. All I want to do is buy the game legitimately again, but GoG doesn't seem to want the extra sale.

Have you tried contacting them and posing your problem? I have had good responses whenever I have had to ask them about things. Alternatively, did you try buying it as a gift and having the code emailed to yourself?

I'm working on it. I made some content a few years ago that mimicked eq quality play for noobs and I had one boy who really enjoyed it. Maybe if I can get my low poly skinned models finished (which are more comic than realistic) plus the tilesets brought back from the dead, I can do that again. Of course he's some kind of autistic so maybe that says something about my quality '<img'>
