Should I forge these items?
« on: June 17, 2012, 12:54:08 pm »

I'm on my first NeverWinter Nights playthrough, playing with a wizard, and I'm currently in the first chapter. After some adventuring, I found a Short Sword +1 and a Fairy Dust, which can be taken to a certain character who might forge a better Short Sword for a price of 500 pieces of gold. I can either sell this weapon for 2900 pieces of gold or sell the Short Sword +1 for 750 pieces of gold and save the fairy dust. Since pretty much all weapons and armors from his recipe list are useless for my character, should I use these ingredients to make a higher profit or is there any point in saving them (diamonds, dragon blood, fairy dust, etc)? I read that the fairy dust can be used for a quest of a henchman, but at the same time I read that I can find two fairy dust in the first chapter.

Please keep the spoilers to a minimum. Thanks for the attention.

You are new and may need some gentle nudging.

This is a "No Spoilers Allowed" forum so this topic should be posted in the OC forum to receive suitable (and probably more detailed) coverage by members of the community,

My non-spoiler advice would be for you to forge anything that might bring your toon a profit and to realize that in much of the content, whether it be BioWare campaigns or community-made, item seeding can be random and limited, so until you have become familiar with the environment be conservative and packrat.  If storage bags have been provided, you can use them to help you tote loot from chapter to chapter for later use.  Eventually, you will learn what can be discarded or sold and what needs to be coveted.

Any other information I might provide could indeed be construed as information that could spoil the enjoyment of discovery for other players of the plague campaign.

I have another question. Is there a mod that stops SUMMONS of bashing chests/door when I fail to open them, without using the radial menu?

Yes. Find Tony K's Henchman AI mod in jmlzemaggo's "Add-ons and Tips..." thread, stickied near the top of this forum. Install that mod into your override and you will be able to talk to your henchmen and tell them not to "help" when you deal with locked objects.

I think you can do that without Tony K's AI mod, can't you? I'm pretty sure I remember that being a part of the dialogue options when you talk to your hencmen, and I've never installed any AI mods.

I don't think that was an available option for the OC.  I think it was an available option for HotU and maybe for SoU.

It was available in the oc, choose If I fail to open a locked door or chest, do not assist me. that was for henchmen. Without Tony Ks AI, there is no way to stop summons or familiar/animal Companions from bashing locked, without right clicking for each time.
