New, growing Neverwinter Nights Community
« on: February 25, 2012, 09:22:52 pm »

Cheers, everyone. I'm here to promote a new, growing Neverwinter nights modding/playing community in the site Moddb (
http://www.moddb.com/). We started a while back the Neverwinter Nights Modders group, the lead NWN community over there (
http://www.moddb.com...-nights-modders ). If you're interested in joining a community with only a few registered modules and a lot of room for improvement, then come over, make an account and share your works and experiences!

Is this an alternative to the vault?  I only see 2 NWN2 modules and no NWN1 (though I may be searching incorrectly).

It's much broader than that. We've been on there for quite a while, actually, though I don't think we're a member of any groups:

Well, that's because we weren't able to send an invite to you guys, unfortunately. However, everyone is free to join. And WhiZard, there's about 25 NWN projects in Moddb, of which about 10 are active.

And it's dead but then again, so is everything else Ascher006 promoted here and worked on, all part of one long drawn out (and poor) attempt at trolling.

Now that NWN vault is gone (which in itself was overrun with trolls during its last days) we only have moddb and the new vault left. If anyone is thinking of migrating to moddb's neverwinter community, don't bother. Ascher's uncreative trolling isn't worth putting up with.

This post is in poor taste. If the community over there isn't worth joining, there's no point in resurrecting a 3 year old thread in order to say so. Makes you look like the troll.

The thread appears on Google for the group, people are still joining not aware of what's going on there but if you look at past threads on here about moddb's NWN community you'll find there's always been trolls there.

I'm allowed to post this even in a three year old thread. If the mods had a problem with thread necromancy then they would simply set threads to be archived after a set time yet they have not. Don't make a problem out of nothing.

If it's not a problem feel free to ignore the post but defending the community makes it seem like you're part of it.

Fair point. Then there is a reason to post, but I'd say stick to the facts and leave out the personal attacks, which are often a distraction and always in poor taste. I don't use moddb, so I couldn't say whether it's worth checking out or not. At first glance, it looks much less active than here and the vault, so I would hope that any new player who finds it also finds the other more active sites for NWN like this one and neverwintervault.org.

I'd just like to point out, the moddb site was home to those infamous rape mods and impersonation mods a couple of years back so I don't think _xkg_ is trolling in calling the group out because I remember it stirring up controversy here with those "Karshkale" mods and if I recall, Adam Miller was being impersonated on the site too with one of mods released under the name being nothing but a mod about raping some users from this forum if I recall correctly.

I don't know if that's what's going on there now or if that's what's being referenced, just thought I'd post to clear that up.

From what I've seen of moddb it doesn't exactly look like the best place to upload mods but thankfully we have the new vault.
