I want to make a build that is most like Larloch the Shadow King.

               Right now I'm thinking about these:

Sorcerer/Favored Soul/Mystic Theurge + Lich template

Dread Necromancer/Shadow Adept

Wizard/Psion/Cerebremancer + Lich template

Wizard/Red Wizard (Necro focus) + Lich template

If you have better builds feel free to post them.

               A quick one here, as I won't be going the tech road at all, since I never found it. You probably knows this already, but in my never humble opinion, it depends on you, what player is Lich Larloch. And the roleplaying, more than the efficiency. If you're the wiz type of guy, or the sorce one. Already just that name you came up with, "the epic Dread Necromancer" gave me the thrills, and I would go for it tomorrow.  
And that's what matters. To me.
I played wizards all my BG & NWN lifes, and I'm slowly sliding the charisma way. Only because it's more intuitive. Spontaneous.
You're probably gonna think I'm kidding, or even worse, but this is where I see the choice.
The story. And you've got some writers in this NWN community world more than able to write with and about feelings.

Game yourself.

               jml, I wonder if he wasn't talking about the PRC's Dread Necromancer. If so, I will say from a perspective of complete ignorance aside from reading the manual entry, the DN is pretty uber by the standards of vanilla NWN base classes.

               basically it comes down to timing, and to connection speed.
Sure you can argue skills, spells, spell level spell damage, hit points, saves and what not, but in multi-player, the better connection speed, with a quicker click, usually wins. It doesn't mater how epic or high level the characters are, you can see it just as well with 1st level ones. Some players have a good connection to the mod, others not so good. It might only be micro seconds, but it can mean the difference in defence, casting time, and even damage applied.

               Thanks for answering guys. Ok, how about more from a D&D roleplaying perspective. I'm trying to recreate Larloch but I don't know what class to pick. I think he is a wizard but I kind of prefer spontaneous casting and Larloch controls a lot of undead so he kind of seems like a necromancer to me. I like a lot of the stuff Dread Necro gets but its spell selection is limited compared to Larloch.

Mystic Theurge, with the divine class being cleric that takes the shadow weave feat (probable domains being darkness and evil).

               Larloch in Lords of Darkness is a Level 32 Wizard Human Lich. No specialization, no prestige classes. Maybe go Archmage if you want. But if you want the most true Larloch that's the way per PnP.

               Yea, but they haven't kept his profile or whatever up to date. The guy that created Larloch, Green or something I forget his name, said that Larloch is more like a 45+ wizard now and that he knows every spell in existence. I just don't think a 32 wizard in this game accurately represents that. In my opinion Larloch would **** all over a pen and paper level 32 Lich wizard yet alone a Neverwinter Nights one.

Now, I believe this is going to be pretty difficult to build.  Even with the PRC.

I would not make him a Mystic Theurg.  He is obviously not a Priest.

I think the previously mentioned build is correct from Luminus.  Pure Wizard, with Archmage (for the special spell-like abilities, which Archmage has, plus all the other goodies that Archmage adds), combined with Lich (because Larloch is a Lich of his own making).

I would give him all the spells, as Larloch has lived over 2000+ years, and his a surviving Netherese Arcanist-King.

To this, I would add a lot of items, including one that allows him to Summon 3 Demi-Liches.  He should have the Arcane Fire feat as well.  Also, he should have every Epic Spell (and his Lore should be as high as possible, allowing him to cast ALOT of them!).  To that, I would add a Continguency Teleport: - that would allow him to escape when threatened below half hitpoints.

And yes, Larloch would dump on any NWN Wizard build.  Or any build.  In fact, Larloch would dump on any NWN Legendary Party builds.  As he should - he is made to be a plot NPC IMHO, much like Elminster.
