Yes its very usefull, with enough concentration you dont need combat casting feat and improved combat casting (ICC) at all as it has the same effect as ICC.

This statement gave me the opposite impression, that you were trying to prove ICC to be worthless and equating two feats to a single skill investment.  But, if you mean that each has their use, I can agree to that.

And rightly it gave the opposite impression since the guy is used to baseless blanket statements, even if now he's trying to divert the attention from it rather than admittin ghe said something wrong.

Not sure what are you trying to prove here. What I said is that there are cases where defensive casting is useable and ICC needless. I didnt said its better for everyone or all the time. So do you agree with this statement or not? If you do then you can stop this crap.

You should stop the crap and admit the that your statement is false. Period.

I dont even know what is "blanket statement" but if im wrong then tell us your perfect, no-flaw statement if you can but I doubt you will do it. Its the same as with my patch project, peoples spreading shít about it, commenting 1 without reason or pointing single changes as wrong while when I ask them what should I do better then I hear nothing from them. Its called non-constructive critique.':sick:'

               So we've switched from defensive to offensive, but isn't the best defense a good offense '<img'>

               <levitating...>

OP, I thought DefC also cast counter-spells? If this is a misunderstanding then I made 40 levels a *lot* harder than I needed to, as I eschewed <oooh, big word, boss> DefC because I wanted control over my spells.

Bird, don't *even* get me started on how difficult it was sticking with a raven familiar all those years.

<heh, ok boss. then i won't need to explain how difficult a certain old wizard can be when he's down and bleeding because he forgot to cast a counter-spell>

<the old man grandly ignores the big black bird>

<...because sometimes a thread needs a little levity>

               That's kind of true. Anytime I see someone going for defense; he is gone the next minute. I don't know, I never tried defense. But I died a couple of times.
What is defense anyway, getting beaten up until you're running out of spells?
That would be the first question I would ask to a multi player, unless I wasn't so scared of those  professional killers.

               Mestil's Acid Sheath, Death Armor and  Elemental Shield melded together are about as defensive as my arcanists get.  The more AoO's the merrier and they can't see you are naked through all the auras. '<img'>

               "Mestil's Acid Sheath, Death Armor and  Elemental Shield" are considered as all half offensive spells.
I rarely use them, matter of time as I tend more and more to play arcanists, nice word for my collection, as a monk: Run! Be first to kill.
Again, only against a computer...
