Will access to the old Bioware forums be removed soon?

               I logged onto the Bioware forum (bioware.com/forums/NWN1) just now and noticed that the NWN1 forum has been closed, and that all NWN discussions are now here. 

Just wondering how long we will still have access to the old Bioware forum for NWN, as I still have my NWN CD keys for NWN1, SOU, and HOTU there.  Unfortunately, I can't transfer the CD keys over to here as it doesn't give me that option.

               There's no saying for sure, but the old forums will likely be up permanently. They contain tens of thousands of pages of unique content, and that gives Bioware.com a HUGE boost in the search engines.

               It is my understanding that the forums are going to be archived at some point.  When that happens the URL's to any given post may change.  At that point all the information in the guilds will be lost.  

The CD-Key registration on the old site should not change at all.  However it would not hurt to keep copes of your CD-keys in a secure location at the house just to be safe.

That is my opinion anyway.  Who knows what the future ever holds.

               Hard to say.  

I imagine at the individual level, long-term people at BioWare would like it to stay available, but BioWare is owned by EA now, who cares not for an Atari game from 10 years ago.

But Urk's comment about helping with the search engine results is certainly correct, so who knows... we might get lucky and have access for quite a while yet.

Yes they do make it hard to find. 

Goto Edit My Account.

then on the right hand side is a list of games that you can regester.  When you click on nwn or one of the expansions, Right under the box to enter a CD-key to regester are the CD-keys you already have regestered.

               I vote they keep it, i know a lady who works with EA, not sure if throwing a word out there to her would do any good, or if she would know/remember what game and site i speak off. If they did close it off, wouldnt that mean all the  forum info on there will be gone as well?

No. OldTimeRadio created a searchable archive of a lot of the most important posts. It's called NWN Omnibus, and it can be found here:

               If they archive the old site they'd be fools not to use 301 redirects to map the old URL's to the content at it's new location. Again... it's an SEO standard. Not only does the high page count and unique content bring them a Search Engine benefit, but the old posts bring in a lot of links (another important factor in SEO). If they don't redirect that traffic those links will die and they'll lose the benefit.
