How do you play a druid.
Many ways, but shifter is the most common and most effective shapechanger, if you want to melee. Druid has a very limited weapon/armor selection, so multiclassing is almost imperative if you want to go toe-to-toe. Elven druids get a wider range of weaponry if you choose that race. If you want a pure caster, cleric is far superior, IMO. The good news is that druid casting is not penalized by armor and/or shields.
What spells do you use and in what combination and order do you use them?
The best druid-specific spells are probably Stonehold (immobilization), Creeping Doom (escalating AoE damage) and Elemental Swarm (serious tanking assistance). You can mimic a cleric's Harm if you like. Of course, while morphed spells are not available so bear that in mind.
What skills and stats do you focus on? Do you multiclass? If so, with what?
Shifter, although complicated to get used to is very effective and each form comes with its own repertoire of feats and ability spreads which you need to become accustomed with before planning your build. The shifted abilities sometime override those of the native character.
Wisdom is the main ability. For a caster, at least 19 to get all spells and for shifters max it.
A few tertiary classes that work well with a shifter druid are monk and rogue. You'll need 5 levels in druid to get access to the shifter prestige class. CoT makes it easier to get dragon form if that is your goal.
On servers without custom alignment managers, it can become problematic to maintain the neutrality of a druid to continue to progress in that class depending on your actions. Otherwise, it is not a problem.
