Report back with the EXACT message the game is giving you when you attempt to connect in multiplayer, otherwise you leave all of us guessing.

It gets easy once you figure things out.It sounds like you got the update problem solved from your last post. Then you went and tried to join a sever and it said you were missen a file and couldnt join. These things are called hak packs.Unlike many games the hak packs here arent cheats they are things like new weapons armor and hundreds of other things.....So everyone kind of makes there own little fantasy setting and certain people use certain things to just make it look better.

If you open up your nwn folder youll see a floder called hak....So what you do it find out what haks the server is useing from either there sever description ..............which is acessable by clicking on multiplayer list...the one where all the games are.Ooooor you can see what files you are missing when your being booted.Itll say what your missen.Write those down then go to the neverwinternights vault and type in the file your missing into the search bar there.Download the hak to your desktop. If you cant open it download winzip for free to open it.Once you unzip it itll throw the haks to your desktop...then drag and drop them into the hak folder.Once again the hak folder is in your nwn folder.Double click nwn folder to see the hak folder. And one final note since your new.Create a new folder and name it tlk

drop the tlk folder into your nwn folder

Some folders you download may end in .tlk if they do drop them into your new tlk folder

If the files you downlad end in .hak drop them in you hak folder.

Most servers have a website or forum that point to which haks you need as well.

haks are there because some servers want to have custom content.  You can opt out of that by finding a server that doesn't use them of course.  Sometimes its worth the effort because it can bring your game to a new level.

nwn was the easiest online I ever played.  IT isnt for everyone though.  When you go to join a server you have to read the instructions.  Some are straight forward, others have Haks because they have ADDED to the original game.  In my experience, the ones with custom content (meaning you have to add haks to join) are worth the effort.   Especially if you find one that uses PRC!

Remember, unlike other online games, the games you are joining are NOT on a central server.  Every time you join a game you are logging on to someone's PC, whether it is a stand alone server or an online game.  There are no "rules" like in other games for servers to follow.  People are free to do what they want to.
