Switching items and AoO
« on: September 06, 2010, 04:50:59 pm »

Does switching items (not armor, obviously) during combat trigger an attack of opportunity?

When I try to test this, it is unconclusive. Sometimes it seems to and other times not.  Essentially, if it considered a non-combat "movement", it should always trigger an AoO (disregarding any feat that prevents AoO, that is), no?

Comments?

No, it doesn't. It could be fake in scripting, but faking a attacks is soo hard that its not worth it. I don't know about anyone who did it, and even if he did, I would doubt its working correctly in all senses.

IMHO and my experience with NWN, switching weapons/items should not trigger an AoO.

However, a custom-made script by a module-writer can theoretically check for weapon switches and potentially force an AoO.

Seems unlikely though.

Sir Elric has a system on the Vault that many use.
