Just a heads up for anyone who is interested.
A long time ago there was the NWTactics mod, which was very well scripted and quote popular. From the devs on that team arose the NWKnights team pvp mod which has been served non-stop for about.. er 5 years(?). This mod is still being served under v.1.68 for NWN but a new server for v.69 (yea the rest of us) has just been set up for testing.
NWKnights is a Team Pvp server - that means its for people who like to come in and kill other human players in teams. It's very casual and everyone's level is set maximum to level 20 (yea classic NWN). So no Level 40s! Since the mod & server has been running since about 2005, fairly balanced scripting has evoled :-
- No instant death spells
- Spell durations reduced
- No "truesight" so stealth and hiding all work
The v1.68 server is still regularly populated and now the devs want to open it up to the general nwn community under v1.69 for testing.
it's not everyone's cup of tea. But i enjoy it so I thought I would let everyone know who enjoys a quick and simple "crash and bash ur enemy's skulls" game with some pretty devious strategic thinking involved in building and playing your character. I like it because its basic original level 20 NWN without the high HPs and (imho) overpowered spells of Level 40. So its really a call out to ye olde original days of NWN.
I love NWN and played it since its very early days so hopefully I'll see some of the aficionados of elegance and quiet beauty which I feel typified bioware's NWN in its early days, and even all new players who just enjoy a somewhat cerebral and fast game!
Server is listed under Arena category and named "NWKnights Lvl20 TeamPvP" and the name of the mod is something like "NWKnights_Casey". Maximum 12 players since its for testing!! Forums for NWKnights here :-
