A few of us recently purchased the $9.99 GOG platinum version and want to play together on a private/dedicated server. One friend, the computer savvy one, set up a dedicated server, and I am able to get into it only because I am using the LAN connection - am visiting his home and set up here.
Neither of us was able to get the system to direct connect using his ip address - he has opened all ports and is using the external, not internal IP address, but we keep getting the trying to connect - timed out server not responding error. Heck, I added his IP address manually in the config file under favorites and it shows as offline even when he is running the server.
Any other advice - we would really like to rehash some old times and have dome fun.
