                I cannot seem to find a reference to many realistic ranger builds (of course there is the notorious fighter/ranger build) that I would like to play so I will post my own build here '<img'>.

First off I play the citadel by jim grimsley, 60+ hrs, heavy magic, heavy hack'n slash, and high stratagy/planning required along with a high dying tolerance. I am not a power gamer, those are boreing, I am a rp tho, that does play a very hard mod. that said here it is.

Ranger: the rest of the levels (about 12-15 ish in the citadel)
Shadowdancer: lvl 10
Weapon Master: lvl 7

I took ranger until lvl 8 or 9 ish until I could take shadowdancer levels, grabbing all the feats for shadowdancer first then grabbing the feats for wm when I could. Same with the skill points. I grabbed Weapon finese when I could. After the points are all set where you would need them for both sd and wm, just place the others where you want.

I took shadow dancer for the hide in plain sight, shadow evade abilities amoung the other feats you get and skill points. Weapon master was for damage '<img'>. Ranger was for fun.

The stats were placed so that wis was at 14 (to cast max lvl ranger spells), Dex, constitution, intelligence were also at 14. str was at 12, char was at 10.

The main stat of focus is dex in this build so that is where all the stat points went after creation and the weapon of focus was the rapier because it is finessable (weapon finesse feat) and has a good crit.

With this build I can "hide" if I am in trouble, sneek up on the enemy, keep a fairly high ac, dual weild rapiers, deal good damage, and have some spells to disable the enemy or heal my party.

Skill points were focused in hide, move silently, disapline, heal, intimidate, tumble, you get the picture.

               DWing rapiers, unless changed on the PW you play on will suffer serious AB penalties without a light offhand weapon.  Also, assuming this is an elf, there is no reason to start with such low DEX if you are building a dexer.  I'd start at 20 (18 as human or half-orc) and figure on several Great Dex feats in epic.  If you are not planning on Power Attack, Cleave, etc.  you can drop STR down to 10 and leave it there.  This build with be relying on FE's for damage so I'd recommend planning on several of them to make ranger worthwhile (instead of fighter/CoT, that is, which would make qualifying for WM MUCH MUCH easier).

High stealth is fine except against True seers like dragons, mages & clerics.

But... TBH... this is hardly the place to post a build or build request.  If I had to guess, the general forum would be the best place.  Better yet would be posting it on the PW forum where others are more familiar with all the tweaks and exploits that exist there, assuming you are looking to optimize combat.  If it's designed primarily for RP value, though, stick with those who are familiar with the environment.  Items will also factor into the equation when designing for a specific world. You'll find a significantly smaller percentage here compared to the PW-sponsored forum.

Besides, can't really tell if you are looking for ways to improve the build or just want to post a finished, completed one for others to try out themselves.  In any case, you'll need to furnish more detail describing your goals and constraints.

For build advice, here is a good place to go: Epic Character Builders Guild

When you are not getting a full 40 levels, investing 17 levels in other classes weakens your Ranger, with so few Favored Enemies and no Bane of Enemies, which requires at least 21 levels of Ranger. I recommend either going STR-based and dropping Shadowdancer, or staying DEX-based and dropping Weapon Master.
Also, if you choose shortsword instead of rapier, you can dual-wield them with no penalty for a large offhand weapon. Or maybe you plan on sword-and-board.

               Hipmaestro: Kinda both for posting and getting reply's, I am a roleplayer first, then maybe a power gamer but not usually. Generally I get my own idea of what I want and play with ideas and see where it goes, So I tend the hate the pure damage only builds and tend to build to need at the moment '<img'>.

I never play a melee character in any game that much if at all so I decided that this time I would play a ranger (hard to believe I played for 7 years so far and not one melee). Citadel is high magic, high melee, high drops, basically high everything so it is all equal.  I need a ranger that can take/dodge a hit as well as deal some damage to, plus casting/healing as well. Usually because of the high everything and scaling aspect of the mod, you usually end up healing most of the time needing to survive and heal alot thus shadowdancer (hide/survive). I was thinking that 7 levels of wm may give damage also for when I find a second from healing.

I also have a huge override folder (1.2gigs) with tony k ai making this already difficult mod harder (I like a challange).

Empyre65: Good advice, I was planning a dual weilder I will need to rethink wm I think

No problem.  Just looking to direct you towards the best venue.

Still, you'd be better off posting this as a build request in the General forum.  Provide as much detail as possible including your bias(es), preferences and ideas. 

Understand one thing about roleplay builds, though... intrinsically, YOU are the best designer.  The amount that the potential of a design can lean from combat effectiveness towards general effectiveness or novelty (like those DWing-katana ninja types) is impossible for experienced builders to evaluate though they can make suggestions which may provide valuable education for you to further tweak to meet your personal preferences.

The current NWN1 ECB community focuses on builds that seek to optimize combat effectiveness, similar to Empyre's link to the search engine that accesses the legacy compendium.  There are also other builds contained in the pages of the New ECB that the search engine cannot locate, but may fuel your ideas..

What I have done for roleplay instances... is begin with an optimized build and then gradually customize it to achieve the guidelines I seek.  The process will typically gimp the original build design, combat-wise, but no toon builder, regardless of years of experience, can accomplish what I can when it comes to roleplay customizations.  By the time I've defined all the roleplay contingencies, I can make the customizations myself faster.  Naturally, inspection of a finalized build by others may reveal aspects I had not considered so that is the best point to canvass opinions.

One aspect most high-magic worlds have in common is the dependence on items to establish any build's final potential.  Item enhancements can make it easy to reach ability and save caps and can bestow feats and properties that would otherwise be unavailable to a standard build design. Some have alignment managers, others don't.  Again, YOU are the best judge to assess the consequences of the environment on your toon design.
