DM Client Crashing with CEP
« on: May 03, 2012, 04:36:46 pm »

For some reason, all of a sudden, my DM
client crashes whenever I try to load a module that has the
CEP attached. I can DM into other modules and load the same CEP
modules as a player. I'm pretty sure its not a pallet issue since I have
made a completely new module with the bare bones CEP 2.4 files and
that still crashed. I have tried logging into the modules both
through NWN and through NWN Server.

The module I play the
most is a simple one that my husband and I share. Its not a massive
persistent world or anything. It runs just fine on his PC as a
DM. So I am absolutely baffled as to what the problem is. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled NWN (twice). As well as redownloaded the
CEP and replaced all the files. I have copied the files from my
husbands PC over to mine and re-written them to see if that
might work, it didn't.

I'm running Windows Vista and
have tried to run NWN in Windows XP SP 2 compatibility mode but
this just stops NWN from running all together.

I don't really
know what else to try. Help please?

You have the exact same files as your other PC.
You can login as a player.

Sounds like your computer cant handle the DM pallette for whatever reason or maybe your DM character is corrupt?

Edit:Maybe your DM character has an item on them.Try login with a new DM character?

Does your DM have any gold on him, In conjunction with having the C.R.A.P hak installed?

I've been using the standard DM which comes with only starting equipment. I have also made several new DM characters as well.

AFAIK this is normal with CEP2 - not that I know of any solution.

At any rate and this applies for everybody, do not waste your time with reinstalling NWN if you encounter some issue with CEP, Project Q, Community Patch or whatever. This is all custom content and if the game is running fine without it, then the error is inside this custom content and reinstalling the game will not fix it as the game itself is not broken.

My quesiton is, is this a custom module you made?

If so, then ensure that you have the Hak Order Correct...

That's the only other thing that I can think of, besides possibly your DM Character having non-standard appearance or items on them...  (I Create my DM Toons in a 1.69 Module)
(No Gold, Just A Basic Tunic, Level 1 Only)

iirc the pallete is different for DMs than for PLAYERS - check your total count of files in the module (in the temp0 folder) against the 16k limit.
