Reinstallin SoU: "That is not a valid key"
« on: April 29, 2012, 01:04:32 pm »

               Hi,

I've recently felt the urge to play NWN again, so I decided dig out my old discs and to install in on my new computer.

NWN OC went on fine, but I can't install SoU.  It doesn't seem to recognize by CD key.  I've checked it and double-checked it (and then deleted all the fields and typed it in again), but I just get the "That is not a valid key" error.

Can anyone think what might be causing this?

What codes are listed in your nwncdkey.ini before you try to install SoU?

Does the code listed as Key1 match what was furnished with the game materials?

Are the other 2 Key codes missing?

Even if they look blank, make sure there aren't any invisible control characters there (like tabs or extra spaces).  They should be null after the "=" sign.

I think managed to install it now, and I think I know what was causing the problem.

I'd accidently installed NWN using the SoU key (which worked, surprisingly - I guess they all use the same algorithm to work out if a key is valid).  I guess the SoU installer then refused to recognise the key because it had already been used.

I reinstalled NWN using the correct key, and then SoU installed properly as well.
