Help with installing modifications
« on: October 27, 2011, 09:05:29 am »

               Hi,
I just installed the platinum version of the game and patched to 1.69. I never played Neverwinter Nights before and I wanted to use some graphical modifications. After searching the internet, I found NW Shader and NWNCQ Project V1.3. But after reading the information on these sites, for me who has no idea how to install modifications in Neverwinter Nights in general, it's not clear at all where to extract the downloaded files, which .exe-files to use and which files are even necessary to download(NWNCQ).

Maybe someone could give me a description? '<img'>

Avoid NW Shader if you have a new graphic card - it does not work - particularly the new NVidia GTX cards.

As for NWNCQ, highly recommended. You'll want to download the following files:

NWNCQ_override_extended_by_chico400.rar
NWNCQ_override_extended_by_chico400_patch.rar

Unrar the first file into your NWN\\override directory, then follow that with the second file into NWN\\override. When prompted by the second file to overwrite, say yes/yes to all.

That's it. From now on, all modules you play will have the new graphical changes in it. This modification does not add new placeables for you to interact with, no new weapons or armor, etc. It simply adds more flare and guts to the tilesets themselves.

FP!

All files to override, alright. Thank you very much!

(You probably don't know for sure if nwshader works with the AMD HD6870?)

Edit: Oh, do I have to copy the extracted folder(which has the same as the .rar-folder) itself into override or am I supposed to copy only it's content?

Edit2: Alright, it was the content. The visual improvements are clearly visible.
