Robes slowin' me down
« on: September 03, 2011, 03:48:27 am »

Just curious if there is a work around to fix framerate issues caused by roboes? I know the current nvidia drivers have some GL support but I'm playing on a laptop and can't use those drivers. It's not a huge deal but it is rather annoying. I was able to fix the ranged weapon slowdown as well a few others that were causing problems. This seems to be the only one left...I hope.

Have you checked this fix out?

Why use that fix, when Nvidia has fixed their drivers correctly?

EDIT: Hooked on Phonics Wurked for me, I should read original post!

The OP claims that the newer drivers can't be installed on the laptop so perhaps the temp fix could compensate.  Not an nVidia user myself so just tossed it out there for consideration, Cal.

What the OP should do is at least specify the i.d. of the card & driver here so others with similar limitations can work the issue simultaneously via this thread.

I'm using an alienware laptop with a Geforce GT 555m with the optimus technology. I went to the nvidia driver site and it says it doesn't support hybrid technology and dell said the same thing though they didn't seem sure. The current factor driver is 267.21.
Hip, I am using that fix as well which has helped a ton but robes still gives me big slowdowns. Now the only thing I did with that fix is install it to my game directory and adjust my nvidia control panel the way the instructions say. Hope I did that correct. Other than that the game runs fantastic.

               I had the same problem.
This happens only with NVIDIA gtx and GT series 4xx and 5xx, so NVIDIA created a particoular BETA driver to solve this.

It was 280.19 BETA
But as i can see now there is a brand new driver 280.26

This fixed for me.
Tell us the results!

Does this work with optimus? On that page under notes it says "Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release." Just want to make sure it would work. Dell says I probably should just use the dell factory drivers from the support page.

I don't know. Make a try don't kill you or your machine... If something goes wrong just enter debug mode and re-install previous driver. '<img'>
