Double problem on NWN 1.68
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:32:45 pm »

Hi everyone! I'm a newcomer so nice to meet you. (Sorry for my bad english)

Recently i have installed Neverwinter Nights 1 on my WIndows 7 desktop machine without any problems.
The version of mine is the one included in the "Neverwintr Nights Legends" Pack. (Neverwinter Nights1+ 2 expansion+ NWN2) (1.68 base)

The problem is that i can't run it on a Windows Vista Notebook cause i recive 2 error messages.
If i'm not wrong with patch 1.68 i shouldn't recive any error messages about CD/DVD drive... But i got it.
When this message displays i insert the CD-ROM but it displays a message saying: "E' stato trovato un emulatore di sistema" (System Emulator found).

I haven't no program such Alcohol 120%, Daemon tools ect. installed on but it continuously displays that message.
The only way i can run it is on Debug Mode... But becuse Video drivers aren't loaded it results unplayable.

Here are the specs:
Game Version: NWN 1  1.68 - Shadws of Undertide - Hordes
Game Language: Italian
Retail or Digital: Retail CD from Legends Edition
Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Processor Type: Core 2 Duo.
Processor Speed: 2,83 GHz
Operating System / Service Pack: Vista SP1
System RAM: 4 gigs
Video Card Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Video Card Model: GeForce GT130M
Video Card RAM: 1GB
Video Card Driver Version: 266.58
Sound Card Manufacturer: Realtek
Sound Card Model: Realtek High definition Audio Driver
Sound Card Driver Version: ---
CD/ROM Type: CD/ROM

Please Help me. Thanks in advance.

Vista is known for causing problems with NWN but following theese tips might help you getting it running at least:

You seem pretty good at english, why don't you get the english version from GOG so you can run the game in its latest version (1.69) ?

Mmm sorry for this late answer but there's no way to run it.
Today i tried to update the game to 1.69 because there's a traduction of that patch in my language, but i couldn't due to a issue with nwnmain.exe.

As soon as possibile i'll try to install 1.69 with other methods. I'm going to post everything here, maybe it can help someone with the same problem.

Did you follow all instructions in Guide to Installing NWN1 for Win7 including patch links ?  This info is exacty the same for vista. Once you have the desktop to 1.69, I would uninstall the notebook copy and then copy the desktop installation straight to the notebook, following the instructions in the thread.

Patching to 1.69 solved the problem. Thanks to that guide.
I watched that thread first of all but i wanted to follow it as last resource. (:

D: There's another problem now... Now i want to transfer saves on this machine. On the other PC the saves folder is empty but i can see and load saves in-game. How does it is possible?

I already tried to enable the hidden folder/files visualization. But nothing. Any suggestion?

???   er maybe the current game folder is holding the save?

OR, the machines are networked and it is finding saves on the other machine? (you may need to change the paths in NWN.ini in this case) ?

Good luck '<img'>

Now i'm not able to make some test on the other PC, cause it's busy... By the way the strange thing is that in the current save folder C:\\BioWare Corp\\Neverwinter Nights\\Saves there's only 1 savegame, the one i transferred from my third PC before leaving for holidays named "Cave". But when i run the game i see three savegame, "Autosave, Cave, Druid". This means that the Savegame "Druid" (The one i need) must be somewhere necessarily... but where?
