entering luskan (invalid character player login refused)
« on: August 10, 2011, 12:12:19 pm »

               Hello! im supposed to go to luskan now, so i speak to the sergeant and he opens the door and i click the zone thingy.

right before fade out i lose my merc's contracts (lolwut) and then there's the loading screen, then i get error message saying "invalid character - player login refused"
and i get a screen where i can select some level 1 characters.

i'm really quite upset. i tried searching this forum but the search engine appears rotten so i made this topic.

so i tried the patcher in my nwn file. it applied one patch but the next patch gave error message, and i understand the patcher is rotten also. it tells me to get crit rebuild (which i want) but the link sends me to the rotten bioware site's main page.

anyways.
patcher says: "Your game version is: 1.11.6711 English" at the top an din the box, at the bottom it says "NWUpdate Version: 1.24 " i infer that that is the patch i was trying to get.
im playing on windows XP; no hax, no cheats and no expansions.

i would enjoy:
- a way to circumvent this bug
- the patch (pref up to 1.69 but whatever fixes this would be fine)
- critical rebuild
- a way to get my character in the list of lvl1's i can select would also work.

               you can get critical rebuild from this new unofficial NWN site - http://www.neverwint....info/index.htm

As for the bug, I dont think patch solves this. I guess you cheated, you either put more points into abilities via dm command or you used some kind of override to get special class benefits maybe? Nvm, you can shutdown the "legitimity" check via this:
open nwnplayer.ini in NWN root folder

under [Game Options]

look for these lines, if there is 1 at the end replace for 0, if such line doesnt exists under game options, add it:

Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=0
Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=0

Also if you play druid or shifter you should also download my unofficial patch 1.70 (link in my signature) or dont download 1.69 at all as there is minor issue with polymorphs in official campaigns.

               You rock.
it looked like a .config file or whatever but i opened nwnplayer file with notepad and changed those two values to 0 and i got my character into luskan. but.

i couldnt get out as the door back was locked (this is probably supposed to be this way)
more importantly i still lost alot of quest items; notes, all my imaskarran tomes and other stuff..
i did doublecheck the item level restrictions=0,
i repeat also that: im playing on windows XP; no hax, no cheats and no expansions.
but i guess starting now i did use cheats '<img'>

i also found the localvault map and i copied my 'player' char from my save folder to there and renamed so i should be able to pick it from the list of lvl1 premades that i got after the bug occurred '<img'>

but do you have any way for me to keep my stuff?

*edit* wait a minute - i checked the nwnplayer file i changed for 'game options' and it wasnt there, i didnt change
it under game options, it was in the file in notepad under 'server options', maybe i i changed it somewhere different than you said?
for clarity i am playing singleplayer mode, not multiplayer

               Uhm not sure if I understand, but the lines I provided must be under Game Options category. As for plot items, I really dont know why the module deletes them from you...

               the on enter, M3_STRIPITEMS script removes plot items.
here is the list of items from the script:
Strip2EItems("2Q4F_GhoulAmu");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_BaramBaseKey");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_KurthBaseKey");
   Strip2EItems("M2Q4A_Child_Toy");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_ErbsRing");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_GlowSphere");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_PlanarToken");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4F_MachKey");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4A_Londa_Key");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_YvettesBaby");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_Sewage");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_LEVERSTONE");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_LEVERWATER");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_LEVERWIND");
   Strip2EItems("Elynwyd_Ring");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_WizardBook");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_NecroParchment");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_NecroJournal");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_BaramHead");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_KurthHead");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4D_PrisonKey");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6B_AribethDiar");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6B_SecureKey");
//    Strip2EItems("2Q6_Stone01");
//    Strip2EItems("2Q6_Stone02");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE03");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE04");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE05");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE06");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE07");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE08");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_STONE09");
//    Strip2EItems("2Q6_Stone10");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_BloodWar");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_ImpGore");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_QuasitGore");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6E_ControlRod");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6G_Discipline");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_Letter02");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_MaugrimLette");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_MaugrimJournal");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_LetterGolem");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6K_GrandStone");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_LabNotes");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6H_PrisonKey");
   Strip2EItems("M2Q6A0SEAL");
   Strip2EItems("M2Q06IAARINPASS");
   Strip2EItems("2Q4_Orders");
   Strip2EItems("2Q6_PortalInst");

I am willing to bet that each chapter has some form of this item strip on character enter.

               At the top of this forum you can find a sticky called Guide to Installing NWN1 for Win7 including patch links Which has links to all patches.

Have fun '<img'>

               SHOVA i thought of that but then, luskan is the 5th and final part of chapter 2, not the start of chapter 3 :c
it DID however say something about 'loading module' on the loading screen...
any chance i can find such files and fiddle with them?
