Hosng internet and lan games
« on: August 02, 2011, 09:15:38 pm »

               Alrights,
Let me give my details first, I need a net work savy person to answer this question.
I am using a cisco linksys e2500 router, just got it a few weeks ago.
Port settings are open-
Ie in the gaming section all the ports required for nwn and game spy are open.
Now, both me and the other computer can play at the same time, but, I am unable to get anything I try to host to show up on the lan or internet.
Fire walls are down, as they are irritating to me. So, what might I need to do, step by step please, to remedy this problem. And please don't send me to the port forward .com web site, it's useless to me.
Thanks

I don't know if you located this topic in your searches, but it was the only somewhat useful one I found on the subject at hand without going much further back.  Perhaps it may help.  Dunno.

It is possible that with the loss of support for authentication by EA, Gamespy may not be a very reliable source to publicize your sessions.  If you are dealing mainly with a finite group of players that you know, why not just email them the addy for direct connect?  Many hosters are going this route now until the servers issues are repaired, if ever.  Forgive my ignorance, I am not the guru you seek.

But I can offer some advice on maximizing your chances: Be VERY patient.  If you have the BSN email notification set up, that would help, but TBH, hosting in general has not been a topic discussed much since the migration from the legacy Bioware site so you are at the mercy of those random unpredictable log-ins to BSN from the expert you seek.

I would suggest if you don't get a helpful reply, to bump the topic about once a week for a month and then yield to the  inevitable. Your luck may change. That's about all I can offer. Sry '<img'>

*bump*
