Cannot host. All ports open. Firewall off.
« on: May 16, 2011, 08:59:50 pm »

               Hi folks.

I've been frustratingly trying to host for a couple weeks now for my friends and have been running into major problems of the 'they just cannot connect' kind. My game doesn't appear to be online in any way after running NWNserver.

I have opened all ports, or even tried to simply turn off my router and connect to the internet directly though the modem. I have turned off my firewall, or set up a spare PC as a dedicated server, tried with my laptop, or any combination of the above. Even people on my local connection cannot find the server.

I have to be missing something here. There has to be something I haven't tried. I used to- with the exact same setup, host every week for our game without issue. Nothing has changed since then as we are on the same provider/router/computer.

Help!

PS: also have configured windows firewall even though it's of. Also, we have tried many different modules with (and without) custom content and the OCs. Same results.

well if you can't connect locally in your home network, then it ain't no port forwarding issue.

how are you connected with your computer... Wireless or Wired?

Are you experiencing any other Internet issues? any frequent or occasional lags?
sometimes you get disconnected and are on a always on broadband connection?

Can you connect local computers on the home network for file sharing? AND succesfully
transfered files between computers?

Have your friends tried using Direct Connect to find your module?
