CD-Key still in use...
« on: March 22, 2011, 03:57:26 am »

               Hey,

So, tonight I tried to log in to my test server, and it gave me the "CD Key is still in use" error. I have two copies of NWN, so I quickly switched out my keys and was able to log in -

...Which leads me to believe that my cd-keys are, actually, already in use. I'm just curious if anyone else has gotten this error recently, or if there is some connection problem?

I have never given my CD keys to anybody, and I can't really imagine why (nwn is 10 years old) or how they would have been 'stolen.'  Seems like a random thing.

If there is another explanation for it, I'd love to hear, since I don't want to jump to conclusions.

Thanks!

I have run into that as well, I cannot say for truth, but when I log in as 'lordofworms' with my keys assigned, then switch out my keys and change my login name it always seems to get confused when doing multiplayer.
so whenever I switch keys and login accounts I always launch a singleplayer module or test mod first, after game loads up, exit out and try your multiplayer server again.

The Gamespy system we all use sometimes holds on to your key codes from anywhere to 5 minutes to sometimes getting stuck up to an hour.

LoW's suggestion is a good one but just switching the key codes is also works well. (I have like 20 old games I bought for like a 1 a piece at yard sales so I do this constantly)
