30+ second input delay on menu screen, can't even get into game
« on: December 31, 2010, 04:37:49 pm »

After clicking play in the first menu and then seeing the different splash logos and hearing the music start, it takes about 30 seconds for the main NWN screen to show and another 30 for the main menu to come up. When it does come up, it takes another 30 seconds for each input you try to give (mouse click, keyboard press, etc.).

I have tried disabling sound and lowering the video options to all the lowest settings within the game configuration at the first menu. I've tried re-applying the 1.69 patch. I've tried removing and reinstalling both the game and Nvidia drivers multiple times. I've tried with both copies I own (Gold version on CD and Diamond version from GOG download). I have an Nvidia GeForce 7600GS with dual outputs and the 2nd one is disabled (only 1 monitor active). I've tried running with Compatibility mode for 98/me and 2000 which made it worse or crashed immediately. I am running as the local admin in Windows XP Pro Corp Ed. w/ SP3.

I have a Pentium4 2.8GHz w/ 3GB or RAM. I have run memtest86 ver 3.5 and it found no errors.

Other games with higher requirements (such as GuildWars) work fine with high quality enabled and no slowness or problems.

I've entered tickets with dxdiag output with Atari (3 days and no response) and GOG (told me to try the things I stated in my original request I'd already tried) and had zero luck.  Any further ideas would be appreciated.
