NWN in Windows 64 bits.
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:54:34 am »

As time goes by and my Freezing-Creatures-turned-freezing-"on-activate-scripts" curse simply won't go away, I've come to the realization I've destroyed what passed for my life buying hardware and stuff to physically solve the problem. The good news is such useless resources (as they didn't solve the dilemma they were bought to eradicate) have made my PC perfect for a 64 bit upgrade.

Nonetheless, and seeing as how NWN is THE ONLY game I care about, it is imperative for me to know if running it in 64 bits causes any new issues to arise...

I'm tired of fighting this sole. dreaded curse, and would like to know if there are others loomig over the horizon should I go for the upgrade. So, I would appreciate it if users could share their experience running NWN on Windows 7 64 bits.

'^_^' Yet again, thanks in advance! You guys form the most supportive community I've ever known!

I am not that experienced with 64bit Windows 7, but I installed NWN on my son's laptop some time ago. The laptop is an Acer Aspire that runs Windows 7 64bit and he says it works without any problems. After installation, I did a quick check and did not notice any problems, either.

Greetings

I have a 64bit system upgraded from Vista to Win7. In both cases the game runs well with UAC off.

However, nwconfig is a mess. It refuses to acknowledge either my video or sound cards and I have to take it on faith that they are actually being used properly.

Of course this might simply be a result of my own ineptitude.

Good luck.

Interesting... thanks for your posts, guys! So, what about the nwconfig issue AzurDraak mentions? Is it an individual thing, or does anyone else have the same problem?

I thought nwconfig didn't work for ages now?

If this topic was last week, I'd've posted that mine is a 64 bit (DELL studio laptop) and it has run perfectly... however... I just updated some stuff (from DELL) which has completely messed it up and so I can't say I had no problems.

..but it doesn't seem to be a 64 bit thing.

Some odd crashes that here and there that are too infrequent to bother me personally. Should be fine on a 64 bit machine as everyone else has said.
