When testing a module can you choose the PC to play it?
« on: January 09, 2015, 02:53:01 am »

Title says it all. I just re-started work on an old module of mine (and am glad to see this forum!), and I would like to however chose or select which PC gets to pley when I test the module from within the Toolset.

Right now it picks a premade charcater each time -- probably the first premade character it finds.

Am I being clear enough?

I'd like to test my module with various characters of differing classes, alignments etc.

Of course, I could load the add and load module for regular play, but that's an extra few steps and I'd like to just "test" from in the Toolset (I'm lazy).

Does anyone know what I mean?

My test mode from the toolset always uses the top character in the localvault - name the PC "_Name"

You can go to your local vault folder and manually rename one of the characters something like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa or another invalid name - just make sure it comes first alphabetically. Every time you hit f9 to test, you will get an error message that you can close, and after that you can pick any character you want.

Make a copy of one of the character files in your localvault and name it "-----------------.bic" (that's 17 hyphens). This will be the first character your game finds, but since the filename is longer than 16 characters the load fails. This will allow you to select any other character you wish to test with.
