nwtoolset over remote desktop
« on: January 26, 2013, 04:46:33 pm »

so, i was hoping to use the toolset through a remote desktop connection.  i get the "unable to create 3d window" whatever message.

i've seen some random posts about rdp not being able to do directx or something.  i dunno - not really a windows guy myself.

has anybody figured out a workaround?

if i launch the toolset while at the terminal, and then rdp while it's open the toolset works just fine.

has anybody been able to "patch" the executable to disable this check?

well, i didn't really do either of my suggestions, but i found something that works.

i set up the machine to log in automatically with a user.  then, in the startup folder, it launches the toolset in the local monitor.

then, since the toolset is already open, i can later RDP in (even waking it from hibernate).

I actually just use a VPN to remote control my server's toolset. Ironically my laptop can't handle running the visual 3D models like the server's computer can. So I use toolset routinely for creature/item/door/placeable creation through remote connection.
