Fireplace fire placeable and flickering firelight
« on: May 16, 2012, 07:48:27 pm »

Is there a fireplace fire placeable? Meaning, is there a placeable that looks like stacked firewood with a flame? Also, is there some kind of visual effect I can use to make the firelight appear to flicker on the walls and make shadows flicker? I have both NWN 1 expansions and the latest CEP.

I figure if I am looking for this then someone else might have had the same idea....

Thanks!

The CEP has Fire places, with and without flame vfx. there is a woodpile placeable that Bioware did. There are several size or flames from Bio, and a few different colored ones from the CEP.

Without using CEP, you can use stock NWN placeables.

Place down the woodpile

Placeables -> Standard -> Miscellaneous Interior -> Woodpile.

The next step it to place one of the 1.69 torches, which offer flickering.

Placeables -> Standard -> Building Adornments -> Torch Bracket.

You want the FIRST one in the selection.

Now adjust its Z-AXIS and have the flame flickering around the wood and hiding the bracket itself.

This offers a nice flickering effect.

To finish it off, add some normal fire without the glow in and around the woodpile to hide the torch flame.

Placeables -> Standard -> Visual Effects -> Flame, Large/Medium/Small No Glow

FP!
