Ever since I installed NWN on Windows 7 I have been having a lot of problems with the toolset crashing. I did all the right things, set the compatibility mode etc and this did help a little, but the toolset was still crashing occasionally. The crashes were also corrupting the back up files too. So I looked in Tools - Options and found that you could disable the creation of back ups and that you could disable environment mapping on creatures and items in secondary windows. Since I have done this, the toolset has not crashed. Of course this may just be coincidence, but I thought I would share this little technique for anyone else that may have problems.
