Prophet Series - Chapter 1 help needed

I have completed The Castle in the Forest and The Mines of Lohim (both complete in journal, both show as a dead-end with Evenorn mentioned in the Castle entry), but I am unable to proceed south from the Feyrathian Forest. When I click on the transit spot, I get "You have no reason to go this way yet." I have talked to everyone I can think of about Evenorn, but either they know nothing or don't have an option to ask about him.

 

Is there any way to manually open up the way to continue?

Herud in the castle will tell you about Evenorn and Llarien will tell you more if he's in your party.

In the mines you'll find a book on the body of Florien which will tell you about Evenorn IF you have been to the castle first. If not, the quest will be a dead end and if you haven't talked to Herud at the castle you will not know enough about Evenorn to continue your way south. You'll be stuck.

The only one who can help you now is Llarien. You have to have rescued him in the mines and he has to be part of your party. He'll then tell you about Evenorn when you try to go south in the forest and you'll be able to get to the city of elves. Without Llarien you won't be able to get there.

I did the mines first and picked up Llarien. I went through the castle and Herud told me about Evenorn. When I talk to Llarien, there is only one option to talk to him and then only options to ask him about: "yourself, your skills, your homeland". Nothing about Evenorn.

I figured it out. I looked at the module in the toolset and it looked like Llarien has to be the closest object to you when you talk to Herud, so I loaded an older save and went back for a third time to talk to Herud. This time I made sure Llarien was next to me and it worked. He talked to me about Evenorn and off I go...
