I see people make single player modules and PW’s using NWN. Is anyone or has anyone made groups of modules that are linked together making one large world? Then release new areas for the world ever so often?


 


What I am talking about would be a group of modules that together would make a world that people could download and play through.


 


Each city, town, dungeon, or set of outdoor areas could be their own module.   


( OR )


Each realm could be its own module.


 


I have been thinking about this for years, ever sense I found out you can zone between modules like zoning between areas. Yes this would not work for a PW without running 300 different server (you get my point) but it would be nice to see an ongoing, ever growing, downloadable RPG world. Something a little like Skyrim.


 


You would just keep adding to the world. Just think once or twice a month a new area could be released and all you would have to do is download it and it would already be set up and linked to the game world. You could play through the world on your own or with friends.


 


Well this is just an idea and I didn’t know if someone is already doing this or not.


 


 


If no one has done or is doing anything like this then what is your thoughts on such a project?

Friend Tonden Ockay,


What we are doing is a multi-module project, the first module is CEP2.1 only (so easy entry requirements) - sister modules will require additional hak paks. Main module is presently 1337+ Areas (no joke that), it and each of the sister modules are expected to top out at 2k or less total Areas (yes it runs stable and smooth). Our present server is setup and capable of running up to five modules of this type, so our project will span multiple modules and contain as many as 10K Areas, with haks allowing for many many more Areas beyond that.


 


NWN is an amazing and robust engine.


 


We do continue to add to our module (updating about twice a week typically) and intend to continue that pretty much as long as there is wind in the sails.


 


Overall, we are building a world, some outer planes, and other inner planes regions, and ultimately a fully fledged D&D style campaign world. The place is feature rich too, with over 100 custom spells, and systems to allow fly, swim, climb, jump, squeeze-thru, and even window use for rogues.
