Hi guys. I designed the Endless Nights series. I think 3, 4 and 6 are the key ones. Each has their own flavor. 3 has limited areas and is definitely more about running around trying to stay alive at times, but because monsters are in different factions, you can lead certain types into other types. (Undead will kill most anything else, etc.)
I think 4 is the most popular. It's definitely got a good amount of difficulty combined with completely randomized loot. You have the highest chance to find an item whose power is around your character level, but there's a moderate chance of finding items of just about any power. So you can find something incredibly powerful at level 1. There's also random starting bonuses that your character could receive. It all adds up to powerful enemies and the chance of being quite powerful yourself. You can also choose the evil side if you want.
Endless Nights 6 was trying to take some of those concepts but make it closer to pen and paper. No extra lives. Most items tend to be closer to the character's level. Easier to get into 1 on 1 fights. Henchman that allow you to play like a full party rather than solo. Etc.
Endless Nights 5 was an attempt at the same concept, and while not horrible, I think I made some design mistakes that take away from the game. 6 is a lessons learned sort of thing.
I did the same concept on Android and iOS:

Android: https://play.google....e.EndlessNights
Unfortunately, I have very little graphical skill and being a one-man shop, it's turn based and uses public domain tilesets. But if you like rogue-like games, I think it's pretty decent.
