Using CEP 2 in a SP module
« on: June 01, 2012, 06:43:28 am »

What is the general opinion of making use of CEP 2 as a 'base hak' for a single-player adventure. Is it going to limit the audience? Are there disadvantages to using it, versus, say a much smaller custom hak with much less CC?
One gripe I've developed with CEP is it's lack of consistency between what is included in releases. While I haven't gotten around to spending six hours downloading CEP 2.4, it seems to me that CEP 2.3 for some reason does not have the custom skyboxes that were released in 2.2. Also, the 2.3 starter module requires the 2.2 tlk (odd); and the 2.3 package doesn't include an .erf to make importing the custom creatures easy, and to my knowledge they're not located in a hakpak.

The thing I like about it, is that a lot of people have it. So having it as a requirement wouldn't be such a problem, would it?

If your going to use it only for SP, then the CEP2 may not be the best thing for your game. The CEP2 has a ton of stuff in it, but unless you add it all in, via the tool-set, you will never see it in game. Since your building your own SP mod, I suggest picking, or even making small Haks that contain everything you want to add, without everything you don't, or will never use.

Most of the community has the CEP2, so you wont limit your audience by using it.
