Looking for a dungeon...
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:18:59 pm »

I've had the strange urge lately for a serious NWN dungeon to experience, would anyone be willing to point me in the direction of one/some?

It doesn't have to be a mod with a story just a drop the PC at the entrance and try your luck type. A dungeon where failure/death is a serious possibility rather than just a "hack your way to the end as fast as you can" run. My NWN machine isn't internet connected though so it has to be a mod set up for single player.

I'm going to try Ghool's S1 - Tomb of Horrors for starters and see how that goes.

Thanks in advance.

The Lord of Terror - The Diablo Campaign by Tolitz Rosel is probably the best dungeon crawl I have ever played in this game.  It's a pretty faithful adaptation of the original Diablo campaign.

You know, one of the distinct things I liked about the Original Campaign modules was, nothing was really forced on you, and you didn't have to follow the "yellow brick road".

You could explore, storyline wasn't forced, you could walk into any area you damn well pleased and do whatever you wanted, though the storyline guided you through the module, you could simply press 1 / 2 / 3/ 4/ 5 in no specific order and arrive at your destination, the end of the story...

Quest were not mandatory, they were optional...(As quest should always remain imho)

You were immersed by a captivating host of good RP-ed NPCs and well thought out monsters who, though they weren't very challenging, were fun to beat up...  Because it lent to the surrealism feeling that made you feel powerful, and feeling powerful is cool..

The module was about the player more than the story, quest, or even the module itself nor any NPC in the module, and that distinct difference made me brighten to what a good game is about, the player...

Furthermore, there are a different variety of modules out there, especially in the dungeon crawler department, but before you cast judgment on any, fully play out quite a few different ones, for each are unique in their own way, and some things may turn you off completely, but by giving them all a fair chance, you learn what you do like, so you can spot it rather quickly...

I've played on countless online Dungeon Crawler Modules, some are balanced, some are silly, some are fun, some are ridiculous, and some are insanely uber hard, while others may be too easy...

NO matter what your taste is, if your looking for fun, try these out, they were pretty fun to me, and many others as well, you can be the judge of what they are to you...

The Tomb of Horrors Conversion is a really good conversion, but you should really have more than one person with you, and there are a couple of hiccups where a DM helps.
