Is there a module for...
« on: July 22, 2010, 01:04:12 am »

...obtaining items not found in most modules? Not anything like magic, more the odds and ends. For example, I have tried once a cleric multiclass meant to represent a cleric of the Red Knight (forgotten Realms) and am considering trying two other multiclass variants of that deity, these characters usually have a suit of red armor so I would need the red dyes to modify armor to fit the character but not every module has red dyes available.

While I have anyone's attention, are any of the Vault's, "less than 1 hour," modules any good and why? I'm trying to figure out why one would be played.

As far as less than 1 hour mods go I thoroughly recommend snickersnack by nereng. I found large chunks of it hilarious and all of engrossing.

If you're just looking to customize your character's appearance, recolor your armor etc. you could either try a character management module like the Pretty Good Character Creator / Customizer by styzgy & hohos or use Kamyrin's Customize Character Override. I prefer the latter since it allows me to change my characters appearance anytime in almost any module but you might not want to use it if you like the default crafting system since the override will replace the default crafting menu unless you remove Kamiryn's hak from your override folder again.

Yes.

and why?

Because some of them tell nice short stories. Because some of them demonstrate innovative systems. Because some of them are funny. Oh, and because it takes "less than 1 hour" to play them.

Does that answer our questions or were you asking for suggestions? '<img'>

I agree with Tarot Redhand that Snickersnack! was funny.
Check out this thread for innovative.
And The Sunken Shrine of Ahmenkatja is an excellent storytelling module in the "less than 1 hour" category.

About the less than 1 hour modules,
- I never knew a reson to try them, I'm used to ones that take a few hours or more.
- I have noticed when looking for 1st level modules, some say Minimum Level 1 but that is for a party and recommend usually around 3rd for a single character.
- Also a starting Wizard or Sorcerer, sometimes Bard, seems to struggle a bit in some 1st level modules, they even state this.
- Finally there are times when I have a character of a certain level, I find an interesting module to try but I need roughly 1-3 levels more to get there so I have to find something to bridge that.
With all this, I have been wondering if there is any benefit to assisting characters gain experience using the short adventures.

I've been using Pretty Good Character Creator / Customizer CEP2 version, has a lot of what I need and has worked well for three characters so far. Only catch is any module I use characters in has to have CEP2 or up HAKs for some things to show correctly but I figured out how to do that so that works.

My list (check my signature) might be of some help to you here. I could "work" on a PC for hours, when I wanna take a peaceful break from the battlefield for instance. I use all of these Olivier's tricks all the time myself, and even more.

That's how I play NWN, everytime I play it, (SP only): the community way. The enhanced way.
