Looking for a particular type of module
« on: July 20, 2010, 02:53:42 pm »

Are there any modules with a 'Rebellion' type storyline or that are built around a thieves' guild setting or rogue characters? Apart from "A Dance With Rogues"

Mods built around rogues and thieves guilds:
Guild War by Rick Burton
Honor Among Thieves by Baldecaran
In the Company of Thieves 1: Grand Theft Otto by Wynne Mclaughlin
There's also The Book of Shaddowe by Taliesin_ttlg.
I haven't played any of the above but they're all in the Hall of Fame and highly ranked.

Another cool mod designed for rogues and with horror theme aspects:
The Threat of Dreams 1 - The Hunger and the Sickness" by GhostFactory

Some mods and series that feature the themes of intrigue and rebellion to a certain extent, as far as I can remember (which in case of the series doesn't mean each single chapter revolves around rebellion though):

The Bastard of Kosigan series by Fabien Cerutti, translated from French by Ginni Swanton, starting with Part I: Exile of the West (the rebellion theme comes into play from Part II onwards)
The Aielund Saga by Savant, starting with Act I - Nature Abhors a Vacuum
Avertine - A Nation Dreamed by Aristan
Road to Ruin by Eldar Featel (set in the Planescape multiverse)

There are probably a lot more but that's what I can come up with at the moment.

I would recommend "Honor Among Thieves" to you if you have yet to play it.

You can play many modules as a rogue. Even some of them have special gifts & XPs for those unethical creatures.

I barely ever play any module without taking a couple of rogue levels anyway. 'always come handy at some point.

I must say The book of Shaddowe is an amazing rogue module. Very smart. The Pre-generated character is very fine to play with, for those like myself who are not usually fond of being forced to anything.

My thanks to olivier leroux & Jared_704

I noticed there's another series of thieves guild modules by the same author as "The Book of Shaddowe":
The Rogues of Quinn Part 1 - In the Service of Quinn
The Rogues of Quinn Part 2 - The Avenger of Quinn
The Rogues of Quinn Part 3 - Quinn's Infiltrator

The Rogues of Quinn IV: Quinn Revisited (this one by a different author though, Steve Disque)

The July Anarchy series contains a very rebellious story, though it doesn't really come to light yet in July Anarchy Prologue. Still, something to look forward to.

I'm not sure if it's what the OP had in mind, but for the record Sanctum of the Archmage (see my .sig) is designed around a story of rebellion (against a usurper).

And Avertine seems to be a great module (all classes but rogue favorite) with some attitude!

The cherry on the cake.

The "Cult" path (evil monk/cleric) in my mod "Agrenost - Beneath the Cobbles" starts with the PC as an operative with an evil cult plotting a rebellion.

About playing an undead 'Posted for a change? The Breach, by Akkei. With an amazing unique undead system. Unfortunately the guy seems to be french, but there is an auto english version of it, if your own NWN already speaks like Shakespeare.
It's so well done. I just started playing it, and I'm already on my undead way to conquer the world above with my army of bones.
Fun!
And I had a great time going through that "Avertine - A Nation Dreamed" rebellion and thieves guild story, around a rogue based PC. Attitude, that module is all about it. That for a change...
Fun!
