I wanna create the ultimate char - which race and class?

Which race is the ultimate for a bard and how should I distribute my attribute points/skill points?

First off, this is a toon for the OC so you will be limited to no more than 18 levels and probably fewer depending on how often you use henchmen and summons.  So whatever you plan will be limited by that.

It means this will be a pre-epic bard so will never get Lasting Inspiration, the "cadillac" of feats for singers.  If you build a singer, you can get by with less CHA and obly enough ranks in Perform to reach the prereq.

Are you 1) looking to build a well-rounded bard or one that excels in a few talents at once, and 2) intending to play a pure bard or one that utilizes the benefits of other classes?

Here's one designed by Kail for 20 levels that should work pretty good by just dropping the last 2 levels off without a huge problem, except drop Craft Wand cuz the OC doesn't use it. I'm also not sure how well taunting works in the OC so you may want to allocate other skills than that one . ----> Bard16/Ftr4 Battle Skald

               Alright thanks!

I have recently played a wizard and a cleric and I want to try out something new this time. It's important for me to have high carisma so that my character can talk it's way throug anything. So I thought that I should choose a class that already require a high carisma.

I could go with a paladin or a socerer as well. It doesn't matter.

But it would be nice with some guidance how I should distribute my attribute points and how I should level up and so on. It doesn't matter if my character is allround or excell at a few skills as long as I have a guide for it.

want really ultimate char? Then you need to know all items available, environment you will play and max level you will play or.

For example it is nonsense to build a lvl 40 build in OC.
If the server however start with content at lvl 40, then builds should be maximized into this - that is no skill dumps pre-40 etc.

I think you misunderstood. I want to create an as good as possible char within the limits of the OC. Thus I need to know which race, which class and how I need to spend my attribute points to get the best results.

I don't wanna play a cleric, a wizard or any fighter (I could play a paladin though) and I want a char with high carisma for dialogs. There must be some guides or general tips somewhere.

And since bards already have high carisma I thougt that would be a good combination. So now I only need to know which race I need to choose and how I should distribute my attribute points.

You should have clicked on that link I furnished because it would have gotten you started.

What you need to realize is that published builds assume a lot.  Since they reflect the gaming style of the author you will uusally find yourself tweaking them a bit to better suit your own style and how you would like to interact with the module. That means a build will only become ultimate if you make it that way yourself based on that personal style.  Since the plague campaign is so easy, just about any build will qualify as "ultimate".  Anyway...

...a more OC-compatible version of Kail's Battle Skald that includes high Persuade and a few other "handy" skills.

Use Find Traps to handle traps but bard does not get Knock so use lockpicks or bash. '<img'> Depending on what gear you equip, you may be able to skimp somewhat on all the Cha-based skills.  This is set up to avoid the heavy armor & tower shield casting penalties (i.e. Still Spell slots) but can use monk items as well.  I'm figuring you will have Desert Wind scimi crafted until better drops.

Bard(12), Fighter(6), Human

STR: 16 (20)
DEX: 10
CON: 12
WIS: 10
INT: 14

02: Bard(2)
03: Fighter(1): WF: Scimitar, Power Attack
04: Fighter(2): STR+1 (17), Cleave

12: Fighter(5): STR+1 (19), Extend Spell
13: Bard(8)

15: Bard(9): Knockdown
16: Bard(10): STR+1 (20)
*17: Bard(11)
*18: Bard(12): Imp Knockdown

*If you reach Level 11 bard song at Level 17 & the Level 18 feat slot will depend on how much you solo your toon and how thoroughly you scrub all combat and quest XP opportunities.   Also, you may not get the final Tumble dump until very late or not at all using 3-member party a lot. Good luck!

Well if your looking for a Powerful build that can handle the OC then you should actually be concidering a Paladin in all Honesty.  Especially if you are dead set on using Charisma as a form of diplomacy.

Paladin thrive on higher than normal Charisma.  It boost their turn undead, saving throw bonuses, as well as powering up Smite, Divine Might, and Divine Shield ability.  They also gain casting later on so 14 wis is maximum needed.

class: Paladin
Alignment:  Lawful Good
Race: Human or Half-Elf

Str: 14(16), Dex 10, Con 14, Wis 14, Int 12, Cha 14(16)

01: Weapon Focus: Long Sword, Power Attack (Human only)
03: Power Attack or Divine Might
06: Divine Might or Divine Shield
09: Divine Shield or Cleave
12: Cleaver or Improve Critical: Long Sword
15: Improve Critical: Long Sword or Blind Fight
18: Blind Fight or whatever you want

As you see the Human version will have lvl 18 feat to spend on whatever he wants Should you reach that lvl.  On level up you should take Discipline and Persuade, rest of points spent to taste.  Level 4 and 8 add your stats to charasima, level 12 and 16 to str.

This is a personal build I used to beat the campaign with zero problems.  I was able to pass pretty much every persuade check that I took.

alright. I might try out that paladin.

Is persuasion skill related to carisma in any way? Can I create a char with low carisma but still excell in dialogs due to a high persiuasion skill?

I feel it's important to not miss any of the dialog since its mainly because of the dialog I'm playing the game.

Charisma is the modifier for Persuade (among other skills), so... sure... a high investment in Persuade will easily compensate for the few lost with low CHA.  The easiest way to get reliable Persuade checks for ANY class is to equip CHA-boosting items like Nymph Cloak, Ammy of the Master or pre-buffing with Eagle's Splendor before starting any convo (at least, that's the way my toons get away with low CHA and little or no points into Persuade).

BTW, any UMD class like bard has huge advantage and flexibility in all the BioWare campaigns because of the proliferation of sweet class-specific items that would otherwise be unavailable for use by a different class.  Unfortunately, bard cannot be multiclassed with paladin without an alignment manager installed. Rogue can, though

A pally without at least CHA 13 will not be able to use Divine Shield/Might. Without CHA levels even much higher than that, those feats are barely effective at all... which is why an Exalted Sorc can be such an effective combo with pally.
