Stash the ring in any convenient container... at least that's what I always do.  Solomon should reappear in the Alliance Inn again depending on how far you've explored.  Alternately, he may also appear at a random area in Port Llast.  Your final encounter with him will be on one of the three roads leading away from the Port area where there will be an ambush.  You should have at least the first entry in Search for the Cult: Solomon in your journal from the initial encounter.

There are actually 5 Search for the Cult quests: Solomon's letter, Ganon's Journal, Vardoc's letter, Relmar's Journal and the Charwood Journal.  The Poor Neva quest is linked with the Solomon quest and also contains cult information.  Only those quests underlined will provide suitable evidence for Aribeth and only two of those are required to get into Luskan.  You are free to do as many of the quests as you like for experience unless you are in a hurry to get to the Luskan area, a one-way transition.
