Shalaan: I found a cheat code which makes Aribeth your true love when talking to the Knower Of Names: dm_setmodulevarint iAribethRomance 1

I guess you can give it a try with substituting Aribeth's name with Valen's.

 

I've read comments however that your true love specified by the Knower Of Names is quite random, I had it giving my character as the Sleeping Man's true love but after I reloaded, Valen became her near and dear... so it's kinda accidental.

 

As for getting the romance conversations, I experienced the best way is to right-click the guy like a madman '> In this way you will not miss anything.

That's true, the Knower of Names is kind of buggy. I believe the intention is for the game to check for an active romance and honor that, but it definitely doesn't work all the time. What I'm not sure of is whether you can get a companion as your true love by accident (Valen, Nathyrra, or Aribeth) or whether the glitch only makes you the Sleeping Man's true love. I seem to remember some people saying their female characters got Arden Swift (the guy who wants to blast the trumpet to wake the Sleeping Man up) as their true love, so it can be quite a gamble. Definitely save before speaking to her.
