Persistant World - Anyone sugest a good one for me to doawnload?

Hello Everyone.

I am new to NWN's but I am loving it!

 

Dowloaded loads of modules and have been playing all weekend. Its great!

 

My question is, what is the best "persistant" world for me and my son (plus a few other people) to play on?

 

I have Nordock and its very cool but I wondered if there was a newer persistant world that has been released by someone? I am really keen to get a community going with some friends and to add to the base world etc but it will be a slow job and I need something pretty complete to start with.

Long story short.... 'Back in the day' the Realms of the Dragon Reach server rings was one of the most popular servers in the Persistent Worlds. The core server was the Dalelands Server. After a 12 year absence my ring partner and I are putting 2 of the servers back online, the RDR Dalelands and the Vast servers. They will be connected and share a character database. We are in the process of cleaning up some quest bugs and getting the character databases working properly, but soon they should be up 24/7. I hope to actually start letting people 'beta' test in the next few days.There is a set of Haks needed to play and some version requirements, but other than that it should be pretty simple.

 

The Dalelands alone has over 750 maps including building interiors which can keep you busy for some time. The server is set to CAP for 40 players at a time right now, but we will adjust that up if needed and depending on performance. The Hardware and circuit will easily handle the players, we'll see how the application can handle more players if it gets to that point.


I played on this server originally with MY son, and we had a blast. He is now 31 and we will be playing together again. Pretty cool '>

​Just a question, since you say you are new to NWN...

 

When you say you want to download a persistant world to play on with your son and friends, is this because you want to play only with these and not with others ?


My point with asking is that usually PWs ( Persistant Worlds ) are defined by the fact that are indeed running ( currently ) and persistant. Most of the PWs these days are often time fairly devout of players so they would welcome you and your friends with open arms. Others are more habitated and thus would offer you the chance to interact with others but most of these are still big enough to allow a group to travel together doing "their own thing" if that is what they wanted.


Ofcourse if your goal is to be able to play the role of DM yourself running the PW is easier...


However if it is the exploration, comradery and the pleasure of playing with your son you can really just log into any of the many running persistant worlds '>


​The advantage of the latter is that usually these are more up-to-date than the old ones out there for download, since ( even speaking from own experience ) we often uplink our PWs when we are done with them ourselves,while we keep them to run while we are still working and upgrading on them...


​Also some active servers actually allows their players to be co-creaters so this might give you a sort of win-win situation...

Am thinking OP mean something new from Vault that he DM/host for son & friends.  That where he get Nordock 1.70 anyway I think.

 

So mod builder who load new PW to Vault is what he hope post here.
