Yes I want to play NWN, and I just like it because I know it works and I like my things private.
Thou I perfer it, I can also host over interenet too.
Not exactly sure what "I like my things private" means. Are you saying that rather than play on a PW you would rather host/join someone to play one of the Bio campaigns or other community content?
From your original post, I am assuming that you feel you would need a great deal of tutoring to play a coop game or to learn how to interact with the content (with reference to all that chat software, I mean).
TBH, the easiest way to accomplish what you would like would be to meet a friend at one of the vanilla servers and just play. You'll need nothing but the latest patch and some you don't even need that installed. To keep your party private, you can simply ignore the public requests from others to party up and stick with one other player, if that is what you want to do. You will find out that if you want your experience to be private, for all intents and purposes, it will be as private as you would like. A lot of folks will be running solo and you will see them fly by you as they chase after their own quests. Others may stop to chat, but just courteously inform them that you only want to play with your friend alone and they will pass by to chat elsewhere with no big deal.
The greatest thing about a PW is that the designer & DMs solve all the problems for you. If something goes amiss, they will help you out. Plus, chat is right there and you need not screw around with skype or anything just to chat.
But it is up to you. Our family plays via LAN because we and our friends' schedules are so difficult to synch up but hosting itself has a slew of potential problems associated with it especially if you are not familiar with the content being hosted.
