Looking for a PW

               Here's what I am looking for:

A decent mix of RP/ Action. There are times when I want to RP, there are other times when I just want to log in and go slaughter some beasties.
Servers where if I choose to play a Minotaur or other "rare" sub-race, I can( and do so without jumping through dozens of hoops).
Preferably, a server where Dev. Crit., HiPS, and other abilities haven't been nerfed to the point of being useless.
Fairly quick leveling ability ( I don't want to spend the next 12-18 months getting to level 20).
Servers that level to 40 ( or above).
Servers with more than just a couple players logging in on a regular basis.
Active DMs.
Mid to High Magic. ( I like my magic toys)

What I wish to avoid:

Servers where I have to ask permission to play a sub-race or a prestige class. Servers where advancement is rediculously dependent on DM/Quest awarded XP.
Servers that suffer from "High School Drama". I don't have the time, or the patience to deal with it.

               The World of Aenea fits much of what you are looking for:

A decent mix of RP/ Action. There are times when I want to RP, there are other times when I just want to log in and go slaughter some beasties.

Aenea is an action PW with player-led (it's not enforced) role-play.  The aim is for a PnP style game...you can play a role, but can talk OOC, too.  It's even made easy...start your text with two slashes (//) and the text changes color slightly to denote the OOC nature of the text.

Servers where if I choose to play a Minotaur or other "rare" sub-race, I can( and do so without jumping through dozens of hoops).

We don't have a minotaur subrace, but you could get similar results by making an orc character, picking the bestial subrace, then playing for a while and transforming into a minotaur (via time-based reward voucher...any PC can get roughly humanoid NPC appearance this way).

Preferably, a server where Dev. Crit., HiPS, and other abilities haven't been nerfed to the point of being useless.

These haven't been changed in Aenea.

Fairly quick leveling ability ( I don't want to spend the next 12-18 months getting to level 20).

Some characters spend lots of time in low levels, some blast all the way to 40 in a relatively short time span.

Servers that level to 40 ( or above).

Aenea tops out at level 40 (then offers the option to "start over" twice with various benefits).

Servers with more than just a couple players logging in on a regular basis.

Depending on the time of day and day of the week, playercount typically ranges between 1 and 8 players online at any given time.  Not hugely populated, but the players are very helpful and friendly.

Active DMs.

DMs do sometimes run events, but the majority of their time is spent playing as PCs.  We're around, so if you need assistance with something, just ask.  If you want some more DM/NPC interaction, just let us know what you're interested in and we can put in some more DM-mode time.

Mid to High Magic. ( I like my magic toys)

Maximum of +5 weapons/armor, with some special exceptions, lots of new spells to choose from, lots of different items available, lots and lots of customization available.

What I wish to avoid:

Champion of Torm (in Aenea, renamed to Champion of Dalix) and paladin have a patron deity requirement (Dalix), druids need to have Andra as their deity, but no other special permissions needed for subraces or prestige classes.  Patron deity is chosen in-game during character creation (after actually logging into the server the first time with a character).

Servers that suffer from "High School Drama". I don't have the time, or the patience to deal with it.

Also known as World Serpent Inn. We do not have what your looking for as we are one of those All RP All the Time Servers, but WSI is a bit more relaxed as maybe Narfell, Thain (i think) or Amia might be also another one.

               WSI fits most credentials except for the rarer subraces (drow, tiefling, genasi, allowed...ones like half fiend, minotaur, and monstrous races by application) you do need to apply and our magic is more low to medium (+5 max, no immunities, etc). Additionally, our max level is 30. Our player base is generally small and friendly though we are always looking for more. '> The rest matches up pretty well.

               I think Path of Accension fits your description pretty well. They use HGLL post 40, highly customized, large active player base, autoupdater for CEP and HG enhanced, tons of subraces, although you do have to earn the rare ones I think (perhaps all? I can't remember). It's located under action in GS, and this is their forum.

My favorite is still Aventia, although no subraces, small active player base, and like any server that has been around a while has had it's share of drama, however usually it all just blows over, but it has unlimited character levels, which is what appeals to me.

I understand LoC also has a unique post 40 system that may be unlimited, and I have heard good things about it, but have never tried it out, so I can't speak to you other criteria. I have too much time invested already in the aventia, to dedicate alot of time to building toons on other servers.

               I would second The World of Aenea, esp if you are looking for unique Races, classes, Items, and Settings. You really do not have to play very long to see differences. After Character Creation, just look up at the first clear night sky and scan the heavens for your patron Diety's constellation.

You set the pace for as much or little RP you wish, along with the repect you give to others with you.

For instance, my character had finally been able to make it to a distant city to gather exotic goods and explore, when a winged PC came whizzing by at break-neck speed in an attempt to go elsewhere. No stop; no wave; nada. Then out of the blue comes a private Tell saying, "Seth is not friendly; I am. Hello!"

This is followed by, "C/E Demonspawn Cleric/ Sorcerer of Ragnar; if I stopped to say hello, I could not even play this character again!"

               Argentum Regio offers a host of good DMs, 1200+ areas of stable, no lag server and some of the best RP tools around. Allowing for solo and team play, this is a world where you gain XP not only for your kills but for RP, exploration, acquisitions and more. Action and RP are easy to find here - come explore the tutorial area to see how the whole of the systems here play together before passing judgement - the tutorial features flying swimming climbing jumping swinging and much more.  Among the tools we possess is one that allows creation of custom PC races/subraces by DMs and willing PLAYERS. We can do custom items on the fly too, but that is another matter. We are a largely 'un nerfed' server too, and we allow levelling to 40. Magic level varies with PC level largely. Worth a look, numbers vary by day and hour.

In short, I think you'll like this place.
