Just posting here to let those who stopped by earlier this week know that after some unexpected downtime,
Cormanthor is back up and running!
To those unfamiliar with the server, Cormanthor is a Roleplay heavy, low-to-medium magic persistent world based in the Dalelands and Cormanthor. The campaigns and plots we run often rely on player initiatives and we expect PCs to push forward and make their mark on the game world and the server story.
Though we adhere to the general ideas introduced by WotC in the 3rd Edition incarnation of the Forgotten Realms, it should be noted that from the moment the campaign has begun, we have effectively departed from
written canon. DMs are not reluctant to make extensive use and alterations of canon factions, NPCs and locations in the world. This is to promote the main server ideal of players having an impact on the setting and effectively being the heroes/villains of the Realms. We do our best to document all changes (and additions) to the Forgotten Realms history and setting throughout the course of this.
Advancement is relatively slow, next to other servers - do not expect to reach level 20 easily by grinding. Nonetheless, we treat levels solely as a combat mechanic, and they have no part in determining the amount of influence or stature of your PC in the game world.
