Is it still worth it to build?

Regarding huge world and Dual-Spec, did you know Dual-Spec didn't even exist until Wrath of the Lich King? I'm surprised you don't consider *that* dumbed down gameplay or something.

To not hijack the thread further I'll just address this.  Dual specs are the only thing that allow you to break out of the cookie cutter type of classes the game favors.  So as to not be stuck tanking your whole career you could dual spec to arms as a prot warrior.  Why would anyone think that is dumbing the game down?... you get to learn the powers and play style of new spec.

Regarding the history of the game & changes, raids & heroics and how they are more difficult then the general game, of course I know all of this and broached none of these topics;  you did...  I was only making the observation that it's pretty dumbed down to be killing fire elementals with fire attacks... which it is.

You can go back to wow MM... I'm staying here.

Because before you had to go manually respec each time, costing you gold and time...just like buying thousands of arrows.

You said "Design decisions made so as to not confuse and frustrate all the twitch kiddies out there. Though I had some fun I'm about done with wow."  That's the equivalent of saying "The original campaign was made easy so any idiot could get through it.  Though I had some fun I'm about done with NWN."  If you want difficult content which confuses and frustrates twitch kiddies, there's plenty of it.

I've been playing WoW for the last half year and it's been a breath of fresh air, mechanics wise.  I miss being able to build custom content like you can in NWN (and in NWN you can tweak the rules which drastically improves the building potential), but the gameplay is much better.  Give me the WoW mechanics with a NWN toolset and I'd be in heaven.

Hell, the reason I played through this guy's mod was partly to see what I thought of the base NWN mechanics after a break.  There's tweaking you can do to vastly improve NWN, but ultimately it's a matter of sacrificing gameplay to be able to build your own content (or play other custom built content).  Neither game is necessarily better than the other, it depends upon what you're looking for.  Just please don't claim WoW has "dumbed down gameplay."  End game WoW is the Epic Character Builders on crack with Excel spreadsheets to calculate optimization of stats.

Back more to the original topic...

EzRemake: I sent you a PM a few days ago with some feedback, PM me back if you'd like.

Actually, it's possible to theorize why fire elementals can be killed with fire attacks. By definition, a fire elemental is an animate creature in a constant state of combustion. Combustion is achieved by the presence of a fuel (assumed to be a self-replenishing source, sometimes ectoplasmic in nature, present in the elemental), and an oxidant, ie the air around it. Thus, a fire elemental can theoretically be "damaged" by fire in a number of ways:
  • The fire attack combusts the fuel source in the elemental faster than its natural replenishment rate
  • The fire attack consumes and/or displaces, in the case of explosive attacks, oxygen in the immediate area around the elemental, thereby preventing combustion from taking place. This is similar to how a CO2-based fire extinguisher works
  • The explosive or simply kinetic force of the fire attack causes direct damage to it
  • The fire attack increases the overall temperature of the elemental, causing it to overheat.
I'm also of the belief that undead and constructs can be critted [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Anyway, hi MM! I sent you a PM too.
