Auto closing lockable doors?
« on: May 20, 2014, 08:48:29 pm »

There was this one wonderful export pack had Inn doors that were controlled by a leaver or a switch of sorts that locked the door to where a player could not pick the lock and you could put seven or eight of these sets in a room and have one lever only effect one door i think they did it with a trigger but it was a whole export pack and I kind of want this because it returns the door to the initial state not just closed the other rarity was it used the comments section to clarify and provide instructions something few hack-packs do so you can use the magnifier glass on the toolset to ID rather the door was just an auto closing door or it was one of these special inn doors.

ugh anyhow looking for this export again and I can't seem to find it and something tells me scripting it is going to be difficult. ((my godness the vault is a mess))

Why exactly do you think it's a good idea to have five-line long run-on sentences with zero punctuation?

Punctuation and Capitalization are your friends. Using proper grammatical sentences will get your requests across without giving the reader a headache. One of the most interesting starter mods, which contains many PW type systems/scripts on the vault is this:

Amazingly, Typing NWN Vault, Inn Doors, brought up this link in goggle.

Typing Inn Doors on the vault, also brought up this link.

hope it helps

My interpretation is you are already packing an attitude. It has been apparent on several of the threads you have posted on. This community goes out of it's way to help others, provided you are A: respectful, B: clear in what help you are looking for, And C: courteous to everyone. In the case of this thread, it was not clear what you were after, and if I had to guess, I would say you had posted your query drunk. It made little sense, and was terrible to sort out what you were after. Your last post was by far easier to follow. Thank you for using whatever pre-editing program you used. I and MM will now expect you to use it from now on, seeing that it does work, and you do have it. I certainly hope you find all the help you are after, but I again caution you about A, B, and C. The community members here are volunteers- Nonpaid volunteers. be nice to them!

Excuse me.... I'm no sorry I have to vent this now but for the sake of the staff I will do my best to be reserved about it.

First off since when was insulting someone poor spelling and grammar ok? answer its not you don't know if the other person has a disability or not. I should also mention in your haste to prove me ignorant you didn't help at all in fact I actually on my own had to find the script. Have you any idea how many different variations of DOOR I did look into before I found this one that IS the script I was looking for under Switch?

How about instead of assuming I didn't try it in search Assume I did or get more information next time. Also if you are going to lecture me about how someone else vanity (a very toxic person I should note, half the issue i have dealt with the other I am still trying to get corrected) had me improperly labeled BOTHER to understand the real events of said situation BEFORE HAND.

For anyone just joining I am sorry for the rather hostile environment here, I can assure you I will be dealing with the fact I'm felling threatened and harassed about my disability in a moment but right now I want to clarify a few things.

I did find the script I was looking for but not the export I am assuming in the chaos of the closing old Vault it was lost and will be making a .erf of the scripts for anyone who wants to use the low lag version of the inn doors I will make sure you can actually FIND it under inn doors. I will be sure to include instructions on the scrips themselves for any player who isn't good at coding. I will be sure to mention it is a compiling of scripts form various sources and do my best to make sure credit is mentioned on the scripts themselves.

I would also liek to mention I am picky about testing my scripts since I love making the exploits a liability to players.

First, Insulting is your lack of grammatical and punctuation is not what  I was doing. Informing you that using said Punctuation, and proper sentence structure, Capitalization, and so on, would in fact help you get an answer to your question. The fact that you have now chosen to follow the advice, while wailing about it, says that you understand that. Second, your disability seems to have sorted itself out, congratulations with the technology you have found a reasonable cure. Third, No one here is under any requirement to help you at all. We are all volunteers. If our advice yields the results you are after great. If not, then it is up to you to figure it out for yourself. The fact that your original post was so bad that no one could understand what you were after, and then your turning that to my problem shows your lack of respect. (Hence the A). Your original post was not clear. (Hence the 'B)'. and you still haven't grasped the courteous part C either.

I do not assume anything other than you will probably take this as another attack, wail about some reason why you have posted as such, while continuing to use the auto correct software. You will probably continue to post about all the great things you will do for the community, if only you could find the already done work, uploaded by other people, that is somehow this communities responsibility to post a link to, and our fault if that posting is not what you had in mind. I believe that about covers my assumptions. Wait, one other. I assume that at some point, your posts will go unanswered, as this community has better things to do than listen to the drama that surrounds your posts. Have a great day. I do hope you have a great time with NWN, and do continue to receive the free volunteer help that is available here, even if you treat those that give it like dirt.

Script has already been found  on my own using the tag Switches not doors I would take note of that and Try to clean up the new vault; the script to prevent said bug is area based and set to remove the key ingredient to the exploit a on exit script will be made to allow the area to reset and add haste property to pc for 1 second (this should reset on item haste property to pc since the script is not designed to strip the property form an item but strip the effect form the player on heartbeat)

The fully intended desire to set the players movement rate wasn't working this is a somewhat sloppy alternative and hopefully it works.

You can set the movement rate easily enough through appearance and polymorph interference.  Polymorph, change appearance to one with a movement rate of very slow (or whatever), and then unpolymorph.

If I said too much fluff would yo be offended? put simply that thinking is why the generators aren't working for some of the scripted effects I would like to do. For example I want to give players a stack of items (the same stackable items need mind you) without having to copy paste the string. I am unaware of where the "nStackSize" function is glitching or where to place it on the on enter/on use script to get it to work and its not a function available through the script generator.

Polymorphing has no influence on acquiring or unacquiring items in the general inventory.  What you are possibly looking for in nStackSize is the third parameter of CreateItemOnObject() or the command SetItemStackSize() (which can be paired with GetItemStackSize()).  Setting stack size should not have any problems with generating lag.

its not about lag its about the script generators most of them have huge holes in their function and setup I cant even get any decent script items without digging through the vault. I have five modules i have to trash because they are perfectly useless to me.

that was the argument of a individual earlier on in this thread was to "just use the generators"

Typing "Inn Doors" into the new vault search gave this:

http://neverwinterva...ustom-room-keys This appears to be some of the best scripting for an Inn Door that would meet most of your criteria. It would remove the need for levers, haste-ing or whatever else you think is going to fix your door problem. The link I originally gave has a similar Inn Door system perhaps you should have looked at it closer.

At no point in this thread has anyone suggested that you use a script generator. Only you mentioned using a script generator.
