Ambient to placeable sound?
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:48:43 pm »

               Hello again,

Is there a way to make an ambient sound, such as Town Day Sparce, into a placeable sound?

Thank you '<img'>

Yes. It's as simple as copying the sound file from [install directory]\\ambient into a hak and including it into your module.

Thank you for replying sweetie. I've never made a hak. Can you tell me how? I've always wanted to try it. '<img'>

If you go to your install directory and open the \\utils folder, there's a program called nwhak.exe. When you open it, choose Resource > Add from the menu bar. This will let you choose which files to put in the hak. When you've added what you want, save the hak (File > Save) in [install directory]\\hak.

Next, you need to add the hak to your module. With your module open in the toolset, choose Edit > Module Properties. From the Module Properties window, click the Custom Content tab. Right above the "Check for Conflicts..." button, there's a drop-down menu. Click it, then select the hak you made. Click the Add button. Click OK.

Remember that anyone who plays your module will need the hak.

Seek and ye shall find.  This explains why all the placeable sound objects in the standard palette that have sound files that start with "al_" don't play as they should.  Now to enlarge our hak.  '<img'>
