An innovative idea..
« on: May 26, 2011, 04:41:08 pm »

I was thinking, with subrace systems you can modify the Ability scores of the player, even in game, using nwnx2 of course...

But, why not just make a simple system which increases ability scores by level, which would in turn reflect advancing levels (in primary or prestige class ~ which ever was the last level taken)...

The player would be able to gain more hit points, more ability scores (AB & AC if Dex Based)...
Possibly even impliment a special ring for Fighter based classes (Strength based toons)...

You could add feats that the character didn't have automatically once they achieve a certain amount of XP..

This why people didn't have to use a legendary level system, the system would be strictly based upon your class & experience point you currently have...

What do you guys think?  Is this possible?

This doesn't seem like an overly difficult system to create, but I don't know much about nwnx2 at all, sorry..

Using nwnx_funcs you can modify pretty much every aspect of a character ingame on the fly. Abilities, feats, skills, hit points, BAB, even known spells for arcane casters. There are limitations and obstacles, like you can't increase BAB over 30, and BAB doesn't save. (Easily solved by applying it everytime a player connects)

Its perfectly possible and not too difficult either. Though it might require a bit of work...

I'd like to see a system that was automatic based upon XP rather than using a leveler...

I say if your motivated go for it.  The nwnx_funcs and linux_funcs really allow for some wonder player character adjusting.  i would love to see one.

Well it would be rather simple to make it work with just XP... Make maximum level one and whenever XP is gained have your "level system" script executed. (With an axe!)

Maximum level 1...   o.O

Nah, max level would be infinite really...

(Technically level 40 would be max, but I'm playing on a module now where you can gain levels on your character sheet via the Legendary Leveler, it can actually show 60 levels!)  If some edits were done to the 2da for base items, one could technically gains spells in a progression as well...  I think this system could be extremely dynamic and extend well upon the base system, it's just that PC's would not be able to choose, the DM's discretion would control how the PC's are leveled up beyond level 40 & how much XP they need to gain those levels..

You would continue to gain Hit Points / AB / AC / Ability scores into godhood really...  (Level 100 Anyone?)

The gods would walk Faerun once again!  '<img'>

Players would be content to aid lower level adventures in their quest to ensure that peace and harmony is sustained, while they make a name for themself gain levels, and the reward is infinite in return!

What I ment was that you would set the server maximum level to 1, so they can't levelup as they gain their stuff from XP. That is unless you want them to gain feats&stuff from both, XP and regular levels, like you said.

To my understanding NWN can handle class level up to 60, and total level up to 180. (60 in 3 classes) But now that im meddling with this stuff I cant seem to make so a server allows a character to log in with more then 40 levels...

You cant levelup past 40 anyhow, but you can change the level with nwnx_funcs (or at least with leto) above 40, which is propably how it is done on the module you play on.

I dont understand how modifying base items 2da would let you gain more spells, but as I said, you can add more known spells to a character with nwnx_funcs. Actually, you could even practically add more slots, since you can 'refresh' a spell that has been memorized...
